40 carbs are machined down and sitting on the shelf for my sales. The cable should be here this week. Stuff should now ship next day. Thanks
Walt tested both and found little difference in performance. If you ride open stuff a lot and are WFO at high speeds get the 38. Fir anything else I feel the 36 is the right carb. The 36 will work for anything but the 38 should give slightly more top. Both will have far more top than the stock carb.
The bigger bore motors have so much more vacuum pressure than the 165 that I would think the 36 would be perfect. I think the 165 does not have the same volumetric efficiency at rpms above 10K and so benefit from a larger bore carb with less restriction at rpms above 10K. I rarely ride there but I couldn't "feel" any difference between the 36 and 38 on the 165 for the vast majority of the powerband. This surprised me as I expected the 36 to have a significant advantage on the bottom. There was a slight difference but for all intents it was completely insignificant. Just my butt dyno talking.
Do you have a 36mm in stock that is machined down to fit my 09 WR250? The only reason I was thinking a 38 might be the way to go is that it might tame down the middle hit by slowing the intake air velocity down. I have mine crisp with the Mikuni and the reports I'm reading make me think the front wheel won't touch on the ground much with the 36. (front tires will last years) LOL Actually I'm sure I'll be happy with either and believe this carb change will make my bike the perfect combo.
same deal for the 300s as the 250s? i do a reasonable amount of open stuff/WFO but also a fair bit of snotty tight stuff. opinions? i really have no idea either way but these sound very good!
Hurry up and get one shawbagga and get a ride report so I can convince the wife it's a nacessisity not a "want"
Kelly, If you have one that would fit the 2009 TXC 250 I would be game to buy it to test. I currently have mine set up with the JD kit and am not unhappy with it, but...we ride in the winter as well...really we ride year round, and if I can find a carb that will allow me to adjust jetting without hassle, it would be worth the time to test/invest to me. Cheers, Wolf
Currently I have one setup for a CRF450 I will be testing maybe next weekend. I also have one sitting here setup for a TE610 Excavator will be testing shortly. I need to see where we are at on those before I do anything else. thanks.
gonna be about a month before i can get one mate, work restraints & financial issues atm, not through lack of want however!
How is shipping times for these looking? I ordered one on the 1st. Just curious as to when to expect it. (amazon prime shipping has ruined standard shipping for me haha)
