I just got off the phone with Kevin from Lectron addressing the long carb fitment on the huskys. I was told these would be shipping with the spigot (intake side) cut down 3mm to fit in the TMxx area better. I know find out this did not translate 100% and i readdressed it the last few days. Kevin / Lectron being the great company they are made these updates and all carbs now shipping for huskys will be the same dimensions as the TMxx they replace, no airbox boot issues. Very sorry this did not happen on the first round as it should have. That said Kevin being the great stand up person he is (been fantastic to work with) said he will trim anyones down for free if they want to send them in to him. Let me know if you need this done and I'll let him know. Very sorry this did not get addressed up front, it should have but the good thing is Lectron / Kevin now know for sure what they need to mod and are more than willing to make it right for the customers that already bought one and want a better fit. moving forward. thanks Kelly
Kelly, I just emailed you regarding placing an order. But have a question on which pipe to select on your order page. I have not yet switched over to the WB165 kit and the 200 pipe I bought last year. I am still running the 144 with the FMF 125 pipe. Is the setup on the Lectron different for each pipe?
awesome news consider another sold. i'll be placing an order in the next few weeks when i start my season maint.
This would be somewhere around 76mm then, right? That would make my decision making process a whole lot easier! Lectron it is.
so i received my Lectron but the fit isn't the same as the TMXx on my '09 WR165. the air boot is pushed back, contacting the shock and folding in a bit. did i get one without the mods mentioned in the first post here? supposed to ride tomorrow AM early but i'm bummed out about the fit advice?
I have posted many times here the Lectron, even cut down is longer than the very short TMxx carb. The Lectron and other metering rod carbs need the rod in front of the slide to work and this makes for a longer carb. Mine rubs slightly to but has not been an issue in muddy riding for probably 15 or more hard rides. There is not much more we can do about it. Some people have cut the air boot and other semi extreme things for better fitment. Let me know if it is an issue for you and we can sort out a refund. Sorry about the fitment, some seems to be worse than others for some reason. Buddy Jakes and Blakes seem to fit nice, Walt cut his air boot some i think. Hopefully other will chime in to fitment solutions on various installs too.
thanks for the quick response, Kelly. then i guess i was confused by this comment above... i don't need a refund, just wanted to make sure i didn't get one of the longer ones. i was expecting a direct swap. for tomorrow, i'll use a big ziptie but will probably cut my boot down to get it away from the shock. yes, if anyone has pics or details of their boot setups, i'd appreciate it. thanks again.
Yeah, i posted that before seeing a cut down carb and realizing there was not room to cut them down that far. Sorry.
OK, no sweat. At least I'm clear now. Heading out to go fire it now cant wait for the full test/tune tomorrow.
thanks, huskybear! so did you cut right at the inner-edge of the groove for the clamp? how about the ridge that wil be left? smooth that down?
Cut mine the same as Huskybear. No ridges left. Probably a good 3/4"+ overall shorter on the air boot. I had my subframe off already, so I was able to do it on the bench, but looks like huskybear did a hell of a job if he did it on the bike... Nice and clean..
