How does one order from Up Tite. When I go to the site all I get is pictures, but no prices or ordering info. Also the LED light is not on the sight!
George is old-school. You'll have to call him, and he'll probably send it COD. He is also on this site "Up-tite" so you could try PMing him...
1 714 540-2920 As far as I remember there is a small stack of the lights in his shop as of last thursday. Just call and he'll send COD and explain how to give the guy the check. By calling him he'll explain the wiring and options for hooking up, although it's pretty straightforward. Also has the larger, more powerful light but not sure if that fits the stock opening. 9-6 pacific time.
Ive run the LED for over 4000 miles now. We had a couple bikes with them from Tecate to Cabo. Thousands of miles offroad, and they havent so much as blinked. 100% perfect. Both 510 and 610. 8 Huskys to Cabo, 2-3 hours nightly for a week. The LED lights got raves from everyone. I had no problem up to 55 mph off road at night, and up to 75 mph on road. IMO they are the perfect compromise: Lightweight, compact, plenty bright, good price, super durable, and even a pinch of bling. Two thumbs up.
+1. I have the Lynx HID, and I like it a lot, but only cuz I got it cheap second hand. New it's nearly $600 MORE expensive than the Up-tite. It's also quite bulky and heavy compared to the up-tite. People with the stock light were WAYYYYYYYY back behind the guys with the Up-tite LED.
A good light makes all the difference in the world. The stock light is crap. The up-tite one sounds very good.
Don't forget, you can add the single Vision X Solstice and get a great light set up. http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7253 Best place to get them: http://www.visionxonly.com/
The light George uses looks like a Rigid Industries 4" "E" Series LED Light Bar. According to their site it's dimmable. I wonder if this function could be used to make it more of a High/Low beam light, and more road friendly! http://www.rigidindustries.com/product_p/rgdl04.htm
Does George's light fit in the new 2010 headlight fairings? Ca anyone post exact dimensions of the LED light. Thanks
Would it really be that hard to rig up a dimmer switch for the street? There has to be a 12 volt dimmer that would work
I don;t think you can dim a LED. They are solid state, on/off. You'd have to turn off several of the bulbs, which would change the light pattern, and you'd have to mod a circuit board.
I called him up, he gave me the info I needed - I ordered it up - he sent it COD. stuff arrived in 2 days. You can't beat that for customer service. check his math though - the old guy adds up stuff by hand for hell sakes! light is first rate! Carl Johansson
I am pretty sure you can drop the voltage to dim the light. I would think that a variable resistor could act as the dimmer devise
That same guy can freakin' haul ass on some pretty rotten terrain! Then he'll fix your broken stuff at the gas stop. I hope I can be that good before I meet my maker. Just sayin out of respect.....
