Ah, found a pic of it. It's an SDR200... I have trouble keeping up with it in the canyons on my 650 Versys. But then he rides like a madman. (Tami - this is Jeff Wallace's bike. )
Wow! That CR 250R looks a lot like the 2012 CR's!Although, the perimeter frame from back then looks a lot more abusive to the human muscular-skeletal system than a modern perimeter frame (which isn't saying much). Actually, maybe the perimeter frame from that era was less stupid...
Thanks! I never had to hire a photographer in the old days. I would train my friends and boyfriends to be good photographers....how to compose, where to stand, how to get the right moment etc.. I think that the hardest thing to train somebody to do is get close enough to the subject in action sports photos. I did all the black and white photo developing, so on those rolls of film anything that didn't come out so good, got some darkroom composing and editing. All the shots were taken with my Minolta SRT101 (which I still have).
Damn that looks like a fun bike! Love the Chomoly trellis frame. The wheels are exactly the same as on my TZM. I'm sure it'd be hard to cartch in the tight twisties. It has a nickname "The whippet" (I googled it). Apropos I would think (as related to the dog). I see many items that are excatly like my TZM although this bike is from 10 yrs before. Even the geometry looks the same. Main difference is mine has the Deltabox. the trellis is much more trick looking. I'm a fan for sure. You have no idea what you've done. Now I'm on a search for one of these! (2 stroke streetbike junkie that I am).
Here's a few more... From about 1992, my 1981 Suzuki GS650GZ: 1996 BMW K1100LT 2007 Harley Davidson Road King FLHR 2009 BMW F800GS I still have and ride all these bikes except for the Suzuki, which is gone now.
Very Impressive photos, bikes and riding! When racing back in the early 70's here in MN, we never had any women racing at all, especially with your skills. Trying to determine the positioning of your rear shocks on that 74 Elsinore.. since they differ slightly from the one I owned.
I don't even have any of my skills (anymore)! Everybody moved the bottom shock mount forward (and added gusseting) about 4 inches on their Elsinore for more travel and a plusher ride. I can't remember if we ran a slightly shorter than stock shock or not. I think so, though. I remember running straight 75 lb springs (supposedly the hot ticket).
Top picture is my 99 TL1000R which I transpanted a 2003 GSXR1000 rear end and a 2006 GSXR750 front end, next is my 2003 WR250 just after a nut and bolt rebuild.
that SDR200 is cool for sure. Love 2 smoke street bikes. Got a KX500 motor here looking for a roller to put it in. Want to find a 250 ninja or something to stuff it in.
that old girl ran mint! no clue on frame differences and feel but a simple FWW, gearing change and that CR would LUG LOW or RIP. great machine
I just picked this up a few days ago for $900. It needs a few things, but I couldn't pass up an 11,000-mile 1990 zx600C Ninja with (mostly) intact body work for that price. It needs tires, fork seals, float valves, and a starter clutch. The starter clutch is supposedly a PITA to replace, maybe requiring engine removal and case splitting. I've read unsubstantiated claims that it's possible to do through the oil pan, but I've heard just as many folks say the cases need splitting. Should be fun! I kind of wish I had found a similar-condition 1985-1988 Ninja 600--I prefer their styling a bit more, and they had an aluminum frame, too.
That was a hot runnin' beast! Had a friend with one. He loved my z1-r so we'd trade off sometimes. They were both fast as hell in a straight line but corners were a bit of a chore (especially compared to the new bikes).
