sounds better but still seems a little low, maybe your size/weight, or load/pillion weight i will imagine lower figures.
I have been getting a consistant 56-57 MPG during break-in. Today at 169 miles, the Low Fuel light went on @ 3 USG used. That should give me 34 more miles in the tank, or a range over 200 miles range to Empty. The Low Fuel light did not extinguish for a mile or so after I fueled??? I have about 330 miles on mostly secondary highways, no freeways at speeds below 55 mph mostly. Occasional 70 mph+ and fast acceleration. I am not babying it, but I am not abusing it either. I am 5'-9" and weigh about 190# with full ATGATT. The USG Fuel Used guage is dead on and has matched the gas station pump reading exactly at every fueling I have done so far. Of course I haven't done that many.
Averaging 55mpg with booster plug, still have sometimes stalling, stumbling issues. Seems to be only in second gear when I cut throttle though
2 tanks on breakin: 1: 48.3 mpg - level riding, mostly 4500 ft - hard acceleration on all freeways 2: 51.3 mpg - commuter riding with one run up Parleys Canyon at 75-80 mph 300lb rider, so she is pulling! Paul
Our shop Terra consistently does 350km's to 14l, a mixture of road and gravel in hilly terrain. It runs like a dream and has never coughed or stalled. I think that the fuel in NZ is pretty good, that probably helps. It ran well from new but was definitely better after a session on the Moss tool.
After having the MOSS done on my bike, my avg mpg improved from a best of 48 to 51 mpg. But the best part is that the low-end stumble is gone and it hasn't stalled since.
Well...... I had purchased the 650 to save on fuel.... and I've been consistently getting 57+mpg.. But I do not seem to be saving on fuel - cause I ride a LOT more miles because it is way too much fun riding it
I consistently achieve over 50mpg (US) with the best = 57. However my bike has a restricted 48hp engine. Does anyone find that the low level light is coming on too late? It is suppose to come on when there is 3L (0.79gal) left in the tank. I am finding it is coming on with 0.5L/0.13gal in the tank. Proof of this is that the bowser reading & dash reading are spot on when refilling to the top of the tank which is around 13.5L/3.57gal.
Through my last two fillups I'm averaging 63mpg on secondary roads, mostly at 55 mpg, taking it easy.
Mine comes on at 3.0 gallons consumed, but fillup is generally .15 to .20 gal less than consumed. Wonder if that is able to be changed by the MOSS ---
If you filled your tank (3.7gal), and it is coming on when 3gal (11.3L) has been consumed, this is spot on. 14-11.3 = 2.7L; book says 3L which is closer than 0.5L left when the light comes on on my bike.
It is possible that the consumption is more accurate than that, and that after a fill up a small amount is being lost through the fuel overflow? I haven't really noticed this with my terra, but I know someone who has a Triumph which literally pours out fuel from the overflow after each fill up esp when the engine is hot and the fuel expands.
The mere mention of MPG makes me want to hide under a large stone, and my fondest wish is to gasp my final breath when the last drop of fossil fuel on earth has passed through my bike.
No, way too cheap to let fuel hit the ground! . The fuel calculation in the ecu is off a bit - that's why I hope it can be adjusted: I would like mine to come on at 3.2 gal consumed.
I have seen my fuel light go on and off when ascending/decending hills, so I presume the light is controlled by a separate fuel level sensor like every other bike (and it would be silly to have a fuel warning light that was totally reliant on the user resetting the consumption on the dash after every refuel).
Well well well this thread i started a while ago popped up again haha. Just for an update. After 2300 miles I still have not gotten better than 48 mpg on a tank, my fuel light comes on at around 130-140miles to the tank, like clockwork. 220-230 lbs rider when fully geared. No luggage. Sea level. MOSS update done. Mix of suburb, city and highway in the chicagoland area. With the majority being traffic light to traffic light. I don't understand everyone else's exceptional gas mileage it's insane. Y'all must live in the sticks and have no traffic lights, stops signs or other road users. It has to be a mix of my riding environment and my habit of getting up to the speed limit rather quickly.
LOL. Yep. I live in the sticks. Riding in town drops my mileage to the low 50's, so I try to avoid it.
That is my situation. On addition the roads here are not suitable for much above 45-55mph (at least with my skill set).
I live in town and commute about 40 miles regularly. My MPG is almost exactly the same as yours (630 SM)
