    Dealer agreements..... ppfff!

There is a local business here in the Vancouver area that has made itself into a very successful venture out of broken US dealer agreements.
2 guys, 1 who has a background in the business and the other who got himself a brokerage licence to import started buying bikes, quads, PWC and boats from US dealers. Working out of warehouse space they beat every dealers price by a landslide, they have no parts or service and rely on volume due to low margins. Even when the CDN dollar was weak they still beat any Canadian dealers prices, ship Canada wide and PO'd every dealer in western Canada. All there product is coming from US dealers across the western half of the states. Aren't dealer agreements in place to protect all dealers, even cross border?

Now, 4-5 years after they started business they stock 300+ units, have secured a Husaberg dealership, where I'm guessing the bikes are coming over the border in partnership with a US dealer, now carry some parts and accessories and looking like a real bike shop. A conservative estimate would be they sell 25 units a week!! 6 months ago they turned over atleast a dozen Husky's, I've seen KTM's offered at a $2K saving over the legit dealers and will save a customer 20% on almost every brand.

Maybe these dealers supplying this discount bike shop think it's OK because the bikes are sold in Canada but IMO it still appears to be a breach of a dealer agreement.

    Well said WetDog,

Things like that just hurt everyone. Just in it to make a quick buck from volume sales.
On the other hand Kelly is offering a bike sold though a dealer at a very very low price. The bike clearly needs help to make them run right. And Kelly is offering to make all the necessary changes to make it so (plus maybe a bit more).
These bike would have sat in the warehouse until the cows come home or until HuskyUS lowered the price even more. These are non current models we're talking about not 2010 or 2011s.
Man this is a win/win situation. It just could have been worded a bit differently.

I think it's all good.

O.K. I thought Krieg had a case of beer and Obama. Your Original Post uses the term "WE" meaning Motosportz is selling them is what I understood. Then it goes to state a base price and this: "Basically we will sell you just the bike or the bike all decked out in discounted parts and setup to your specifications".. This is where I HAD a issue. I am done with this thread and I apologize for not e-mailing you off record. That was wrong of me and I know that now.

You talk of glass houses, you can kiss my a## on this one. My dealer has NOTHING to do with me writing this or him complaining about what you are doing (which he didn't). You obviously think I was lashing out for this reason, well your wrong. I am shocked you would even start this. The only reason I even stood up on this was for the BRAND and all the dealers in general. I really should not care as I am just a customer wanting this brand to get the growth it deserves. Something we all want. I am also tired of the chainsaw jokes.

I don't think it's a quick buck. These guys are doing very well and I don't see them fading away any time soon as the plan they employ is very much a part of our day. Kinda like a dollar store selling containers of chinese made crap only it happens to be branded Honda, Kawi, Yamaha, KTM and yes, even a brand that is under the almighty BMW umbrella and it's agreements. Not saying it's right but if Blob Frisco didn't sell ya on it someone else would.
Dealers cry foul but I feel it's helped the industry. Dealers have had to sharpen their pencils and actually follow through with the lost art of service and so called support that is promoted when buying from a legit dealer. I'm sure we can all name too many slack ass dealers who know squat about their products, provide zero support, carry no parts but continue to operate as a perceived "good dealership" because they play by the rules -dealer agreements- set forth by the corporations.

Lets not loose site of what creates a successful brand, a good product with enthusiastic customer support, ingenuinety and the knowledge to better the product. Isn't that what's proven successful in the past 100 years? Motosportz and company have a recipe for success that others should follow.

Norm for only $2,999.......thats a steal if the purchase of Norm comes with his new Sprinter van and his WR 125. Is this a one time deal or are more available? I would suggest everyone get one as a Norm makes a very good trail riding buddy..... and if you own horses...its a definite win/win

Tim, Having spoke and Emailed with you before I was taken a little off guard by your first post and felt real blind sided. You wrote and assumed a lot there and I was pretty shocked you did not even bother to call or PM me with your concerns so i could let you know exactly whats going on. Always enjoyed our conversations and Emails and the sharing of knowledge. That you would jump right in with several paragraphs, call me out and act like i was doing a disservice to Husky without knowing anything about what was going on, what dealers were involved, whats conversations had taken place and the thought that went into this prior to letting people know this was a possibility is confusing.

This might have been handled better by me in my first post but really do all dealers and situations need full explanation to you or anyone else? Are all the dealers and after market providers going to justify and discuss every business relationship and inner workings? I don't think so. The chain of command is in place as it always has been. I just like anyone else without a dealer licence through husky can't just call and order up some bikes. I would have figured given your knowledge of the brand and closeness to some dealers would have assumed there was a dealer involved. If you had concerns you could have simply Emailed me and I would have let you know, just like when we have discussed iBeat and TXC settings in the past. That you wrote so much, assumed so much, spoke of dealer agreements and dealerships loosing their licence, how husky treats their dealers and ended with "O.K. let the slamming of loyalists begin" all without knowing anything about the situation was a little surprising to say the least.

At this point we have not had one dealer contact us directly with issue to this, we have not sold one bike via a dealer or not. Really had no idea one creative idea to get some non-current models in a few customers hands for a positive husky experience was going to cause such a shitstorm. We are evaluating how to proceed.

Thanks everyone for your input, you too Tim, we want whats best for the husky team and thats all.

I think that the biggest stink was because no where in your original post did you say that you were selling them through an authorized Husq dealer. You said "we" are now offering these bikes. I think in 99.999% of the readers eyes, "we" meant MS, not your dealer connection.

A quick PM or call would have resolved this not a 3 paragraph rant that assumes many things, calls dealers to the table and should loose their dealership, laws broken, other dealerships damaged, the brand tarnished, etc.

    Right?

Tim knows all this stuff and we have spoke before so it would have been REAL EZ to just pick up the phone or shoot an Email and get informed. Actually Tim knows enough to know that there is no way to just get huskys outside of being a dealer which is what really peeked my interest in his thread. Seemed like more of knee jerk reaction and then attack because someone thought of an interesting way to sell a few non current bikes. Do I ask you about your agreements and inner workings of your business? Do I take the time to write paragraphs of things I just assume you are doing wrong and post them in your advertising forum you pay for? Honestly, I find this all very interesting.

Nope, Tim who made the original post that started this mess in response to what you posted. Where i talk about asking you how you run your biz it is hypothetical, not you, any biz.

    - I think we all get the situation now. Would be nice to move on.

I believe Kelly is the moderator in his forum. I set that up as an experiment, he is the only sponsor that is set up that way.

If anyone is curious, the answer was "yes" there are way too many things to keep track of on my end to have all sponsors set up that way.
