I could not decide what rotopax to get, so I got both, 2-1gallon, 1-2 gallon and the 2-gal storage, so I should have plenty of options. I will post some pics when they get here.
I think that's a good plan. This is my go to Chile someday setup: I'm gonna get a 1 gallon for ocal romps though. One thing I don't like is that the top container will rotate a little bit. I attached the mount to the PMB rack with a dozen or so Zip ties so I could field repair it easily
2 things... I would bolt the mount on, zip ties are not going to do it unless your on smooth pavement 100% of the time. Also I would spin the gas tank around so the gas spout is facing backward so if it does spring a leak it is not on you / your bike. Just a thought.
Now I have some options, the rack is awesome very well made. I had to remove the stock bracket that I had my baja designs rear fender attach to and just bolted directly to the rear fender.
Yeah, that 1 gal fits a little better for romping around. I'm gonna move the bigger ones to the truck til I decide to go on a serious trek.
1. How easy is it to remove the mount when not carrying the gas container? 2. Any news on the 1.5 gal contailer? 3. Are these available on your Motorsportz site?
Used the 1 gallon setup this weekend giving my 09 WR125 70 miles range. Worked fantastic, did not even know it was there. will post some pix soon but this was a great test as it was rough and technical with lots of whoop riding. A great test for the setup, no issues at all. - Working on the 1.5 with top fill and fuel line - will be on the Motosportz web site soon Thanks, Kelly
Nice. Worked great for me and it was a great test as we did some gnarly stuff with lots of hard whoops. Beat it up good, no issues. Was cool knowing I was good for 65-70 miles. It does make the front end slightly light on the technical uphills. Other than that i could not tell it was there. BTW, i just used the 4 bolts under the fender, plenty strong and takes about 5 minutes to mount or unmount rack and all. - personally I like this setup much better than the XR650 feeling IMS tank my buddy has on his WR250. Really messes up the ergos for me.
Kelly, I had that tank for about 1 week. I couldn't get rid of it soon enough. Prompted me to go back to the older style tank that is almost 3 gallons, slim and carries the weight lower. My immediate impression of the 3.9 gallon IMS tank was that I was riding a propane tank?!!! I let a friend ride it and he went half a mile and forced me off his bike. When we were in Moab this spring his Gas Gas broke down so I let him ride my WR 250 while I rode my 360 and he loved it with the old style tank, seat, 6 speed, and the Rekluse Pro. Walt
Hey Kelly, I have your rack on my 08 TE-250 and it looks good and works even better. Any more word on the 1.5 gal Rotopax fuel container? Also, I do not see the containers on your site yet. Thanx.
We Broke two subframes on the trip to Cabo this year 610 with 1 gal and 310 with 2 Gal. The rotopax is very cool, but I seriously don't think the Husky can take the stress of that 10-20# of Gas on the back. Here's mine AFTER it was fixed and reenforced
