I did hear that thing about Glen Helen and how the AMA made some demands and Bud said no thanks. I'm always impressed with the Aussies and how such a small country (in population) has such a high number of top level athletes in nearly every sport they compete in. Swimming, surfing, moto-x, tennis, sailing, rowing, bicycling, golf...
in defense of other countries I always state this it would be like us adding fifty states seperate to the MXoN, really Belgium, how many people are even in the country of belgium, and how many race dirtbikes of that number. what if we sent only a florida team or a colorado team or the more thought provoking cali team?? that would be more like Italy, Belgium etc. ...It doesnt matter its just for thought.
Very good points you make Robert! And going back to the old days and the begining of MX, think about the population Sweden, Finland, UK etc etc.
Its disappointing to see the US journalists always blaming the track ! Last year was too sandy , this year to rough !!! Come on its MX !
One theory I'd put out is that if you're not good enough for pro soccer, you're still able, just through fitness to be a top level bicyclist or motocross er. ETA this reminds me of the Nebraska football program going after basketball players for their natural height, then sending them to the weight room.....made themselves some superior linemen.
When I saw the roster I had mixed thoughts, but do think having RV in the lineup would've sealed the deal.
A couple of thoughts. We don't make these machines in the US and they really aren't our heritage. The heritage is Euro. Japanese copied the bike but not the riders.
