Hello! I'm kris and I'm from the uk

Iv wanted an sms for years but sadly the cost of one new was always let down by the lack of fiancé avalible 8-(

So for years I used my rs 125 full power

Recently I purchased a honda msx as a work mule to get me about cheap and without the need to warm her up!

But the 2 stroke big was just too strong and when this beauty popped up I drove nearly 2 hours down the motorway to view her and after negotiations I then drove for around 3 hours home with only one fuel stop!!

It's not perfect and I have a few questions but for now il introduce me and the husky 8-))

you've got the same bike as me though 3 years newer, are to see them in uk. It looks great! You also appear to have a full dep system too so it'll be quicker than dt 125's

yeah, those runners are used for the fastest scooter records too I think. You'll have to let us know how this bike keeps going and what fuel usage it does, 2 strokes aren't known for their economy. it's very nice looking though. How many miles has it covered?

Unsure of milage as clocks are a little on the squify side

Petrol wise it's probably doing same milage asy old rs I can't be sure as the clocks aren't readable for the bottom line so I haven't a clue what miles I'm covering but a ride that would cost me 2-3 pound on the 4 stroke probably set me back 8 ish on the husky haha

I like the numberplate sticker. It should give an advantage over the competition, if you leave it on.

yeah, uk petrol prices are shocking, we pay over twice what the americans do for theirs :{ I had a 4 stroke sachs 125 that was very very good on fuel, it did 200 or more miles on 10 pounds worth of fuel! Ten pounds in mine will get my 60 miles or so but I'm very heavy on the throttle. I'm gona try take it easy on the commute see if makes much difference, no more powevalve opening for me for a bit husky stand.jpg

    quick tip

if you don't use the pv be prepared to clean it a lot os i did that with my old rs and it jammed and the cable wore through quickly

i had a slight idle issue with mine where the revs wouldn't drop without clutching it, and then when they did drop it would stall and need bumping to start!

well a little examination showed the small tube from the carb to the sensor had a split, so was making an air leak. snipped the tube back and refitted and bingo, it will now idle yay!!

I doubt I'll have the discipline to hold off the power, tried it this morning and when I needed to open up to get up the hill bike bogged down for half a second. She no like low revs! I had an rs too, an 07 one, you know people say they're amazing bikes? Mine wasn't. Whatever the euro people told aprilia to do it ruined it, there was a massive bunny hop at 5500 to 7000 revs, so I did the cdi mod people mentioned, made no difference. Went over a bridge not even getting air, the rear shock SNAPPED! Then the coolant tank kept emptying because the water impeller gasket or something there had broken so I had to fill up every few hours. Then one cold morning it wouldn't start, ended up flattening the battery, then realised later that the throttle cable had snagged hence it wouldn't rev up. And the front exhaust gasket broke three times. Apart from that it was great, but I ended up swapping it for an ancient cagiva [big mistake since the bottom end was GONE but I didn't know]. The older rs's may well have been built better but my rx50 was always having some problem too. Only good thing about aprilia was the looks, it was white with a red seat and blue wheels, and the speed, it indicated 102 mph at one point, keeping up with a 94 mito. katie.jpg katie.png

What gearing are people running? I think mine is 14-49

And it currently tops out at 60 which is daft as it rips through gears and tops out silly fast

It currently has talon gears fitted so I'm hoping I can go to maybe a 16 front sprocket to get a speed of around 80 so I can cruise at 60-70 without revving too high

definitely 49 on the back as I read it yesterday, but the front is EITHER a 13 or a 14. Hard to tell, it's very black now :D I'm currently modifying a bicycle speedo to fit so I can get a more accurate speed as mine says I'm doing 40/45 when I know I'm doing about 30, but I did tape my phone to the bars and used the gps to see my real speed, I got 72 on the gps with as teeny bit more to go, 80/85 on the speed [it likes to jump as speed excites it]. I wouldn't try to gear yours up any more tbh, you'll lose the ability to pull 6th in high winds unless you tuck down. Though I did ride mine `180 miles in under four hours on b roads and dual carriageways, constantly at 50 to 60 indicated speed once

it feels like its geared silly low? i mean I'm going through gears in a split second and hitting 60 in a flash, the bike can clearly pull way more then 60 but 60 sees it revving pretty bloody high!

my rs 125 used to have longer gears and still pull higher top speeds? i literally can only get to 60 before it feels like its about to explode revs wise. first gear is almost pointless as it goes up and through the power band before its really got moving

    Ah what a mare

Just tried to adjust my chain but the left adjuster was stuff and not spinning nicely

Tried to free it up with penetrating oil and wiggling the bolt in and out but in the end it's snapped off 8-( grr

Does anyone know if the wr from the same year uses the same adjusters?

Can't believe how reasonable the prices are here in the uk for the husky

    New chain adjuster £8.99
    New ignition and keys £26.50

    That's pretty bloody good 8-)

New brake pads fitted ready for not when my bits arrive 8-)

Is there a way to manually open the power valve? I'm not sure mine works correctly so I'd like to pin it open for a ride to see how it performs when going

as far as I know you can operate the powervalve manually but it's probably not supposed to be done, you'd have to take the cylinder off, take off the housing on the front and physically push the powervalve downwards and upwards then look through the exhaust port to see if it's moving freely, or if it's connected, turn the key and the servo motor should turn the cables which turns the valve and it'll make a noise, like a bee, beee sound. Takes about 1.5 seconds. If it goes bee, be be be beeee like it's struggling you either need cable lubed or the valve is getting stuck in the cylinder because it's gunked up with two stroke goo

    Fitted my new ignition/key

Turned on the bike and the clocks work better but still not 100% 8-(

If u wiggle the connection on the back of the clock the clocks work better but as soon as you let go it's back to not so good

The plug itself is a nice tight fit so I'm he guessing the clocks are faulty

Next up is the lack of noise from the pv, no click or anything I haven't driven it yet as I'm yet to fit my new chain adjuster. When riding you can feel the pv open but not all the time, for example in 6th I can give it beans and it revs out but you can clearly hear the pv doesn't open

Other times you can crack open the throttle and you hear the pv open and away she goes, so it does work! But somthing is a miss, I'm just wondering if the clocks play any part in the pv operation?
