Over 300 hrs on my 07 & no issues to worry about. Although, the plastics look like they've seen better days.....

The way I see it, at a 100hrs you will soon need at least a top end. The rest of the bike will also need bearings here and there, its also time for a new chain... you still get a decent resale. Cheaper to go new IMO.

ps. I get to 100hrs in a little over one season.

That sux. Luckily I know Russ Fletcher who would have that head welded up and re-machined and back together in a few days if that were my bike. And in the end would probably last longer. Knocking on wood with mine but seems real solid so far. Valves are staying put and the oil comes out cleaner than on any dirtbike i have owned.

Krieg we see the funny side of it aswell, we got to keep laughing, Husky has been good to us in the past, I still believe it is a competetive package, only hope Husky takes note of this and actually tries to improve the product.
Ours went the same way, It was ridden fast into a corner and backed of the throttle and went bang, the inlet valves got stuck at the same time.

Wally, I'm just crossing my fingers that we don't share your fate. I bought the New 250 knowing it was on the "edge" of technology in terms of size and weight. So far, we've been blessed with a bulletproof motor. I can only hope it continues that way.

But I STILL think you're too close to the South Pole!!!

It does seem a bit strange that 2 of the bikes were damaged n very much of the same way on the track .... (ridden hard into a corner and let off and BANG!!)

That's a strange place to break. Almost like the bucket got shoved sideways (doubtful) or the cam lobe wandered and struck the head. Regardless, that's some strange happenings!

If you look close...to the right of the bucket..you can see that the bearing journal/cap is flycut and placed between the valves.....which is a pretty durable set up

if the bucket still moves up and down (and it doesnt look damaged or scored to me:excuseme:) then it is a casting flaw that unfortunately caused collateral damage....when the broken chunk wandered through the engine

If this is the case, U gotta ask who makes the head? Is this motor out sourced like some many parts are today on all brands of bikes and cars?

Finaly here the picture of my head after the incident, look identical:eek: View attachment 4686 .

And this is what was left of my piston after a mishap prior, apparently a faulty piston.

    This was after 27 hrs.

Thanks for the pics and I think that if I had an 010 bike, I'd be inspecting this area the next time my valve cover was off ... Or maybe I'd be taking my valve cover off today :(

Wow! High performance 4-strokes have ALWAYS scared me!! Light weight sometimes makes me question issses with durability, most of the time I think Husky does almost everything right. Could still be a fluke, lets wait and see. How about a 2 stroke with the same tech as a 2 stroke skidoo snowmobile that has e-tech!

ski doo says the e tech stuff is too big and bulky to get on a bike. They build quads .. you gotta think if they could get it on a quad they would have it on a kick ass race quad

I take it that the large perimeter black mark is from a felt pen.....

Its notable that it doesnt appear that the cam lobe walked over from too much end thrust and that the break appears clean.....which was aways a possibility...the verticle wear marks are normal on the wall where the bucket rides......doesnt look like the bucket siezed

Curious that there is some inconsistency in the casting... particularly at the broken surface...notice the blobs of material at the surface.... almost like an impurity of some sort

Hope Husky treats you guys well and you get back in business in short order.....good thing this didnt happen in august(you'd be down a month from the get go to start...as they take holidays then)

    good pics...thank you

Why would you think they would be in close contact with each other regarding these types of issues? The only way that I know of, until problems are well documented, is to learn about these things on an online forum. I seriously doubt the dealers in Western Austraila and Iceland communicate frequently.

Which is one of the many reasons I've tried very hard to maintain a good relationship with Husqvarna management.

I'll put a link to this thread in the feedback forum.

I fully agree too, that is the point of all of this, we all love the brand and like it to succeed, only by bringing it to there attention they have an opportunity to fix the problems.
There are plenty of positive threads aswell, which I think is very healthy.
The only problem I got is with our importer, who walked away from its responsibility because we are having to many problems.
Instead of making ours a test bike, We always seem to have all the problems first before the become commen.
Our Kickstarter shaft broke so I ordered a new one, the computer showed they were in stock.
I asked for overnight delivery on May 5 at my own expense, The item left on May 9 and is on road freight (6000km) and due on May21, look we are racing this bike !
It is the only one in the State, and it was doing really well.
I think the husky boys here do just what suits them. every part ordered takes weeks to arrive
