I saw your pictures yesterday and have been trying to figure out what could have possibly have rusted. Like you say, must be different types of ani freeze. Guess I better pay more attention to what I pour in the radiators....
Mine was exactly the same. Put some radiator guards on the other day after about 6 months from new and when I disconnected the rad hoses, same gunk (and stunk like pee). I assumed the place I bought the bike from just put water in during prep. Is the coolant pump impeller steel?
I have drained ick from our Huskys, but never looked that bad. Thank goodness you got that out of there. I run the pre mixed PEAK 50/50 coolant in everything. If PEAK was (is) good enough for the Pro Circuit race team, it's good enough for me.
