TE/TC New 125 motor

umm can you move this^ to the 'new' 125 thread please

I'm just the opposite.... OCD, like a dog with bone!

Ive had 7 years on four different Husqvarnas 125 s and Ive stuck with them loyally pretty much - mainly using for spirited trail riding .

But on the comparison thing - I don't think a Husqvarna CR would touch a YZ or KTM for mid power and lap times . ( a 144 yes) .

Yes CRs handle well but the YZ would take the big jumps much better with better front suspension and turn sharper .

I didn't like the CR 125 I had on a track - peaky and noisy.

The '13 KTM 125 I rode once at an MX track wasn't twitchy like the older ktms 200 and 250 I have ridden and the motor was great up top -
so for MX only the KTM would be ideal

Especially the NEW 125 MOTOR

Isn't that the same suspension on that YZ on the 10-14 italian huskys? My suspension guy told me the forks on my 13 had the same exact shim stack as a 2009 Yamaha.

I am not that familiar with the latest Cr unit but they were an older pre SSS Kayaba unit - 07 ?

Raced the 2013 wr144 two years,ran well and turned very well. Almost a full season on the KTM 150 SX 2014, the power is quicker and more spread out, I have a turbo ring in it to improve bottom end . The Husky is much more plush and smooth and it turns better than the KTM. Will not know about the new 2016 150SX until December as these thing are selling out fast.
My suspension guy just ordered a Husky 2016 150 as most of the KTM's are spoken for. I was told with the new chassis and motor that these will not be on the floor long if at all as the 16's are getting changes most will not see until 2017.

OK...

Yamaha - good motor, great suspension, middle of the road handling, GOOD overall bike.

KTM - Fast, light, semi twitchy, not much bottom but lots of top. Race bike dont like the smaller chassis

TM - Like the KTM only trickerer. Race bike.

Italian husky...

2000-04 - Solid, overbuilt, heavy, slim, great do it all motor, ok forks (I had 50mm FBF forks), not a bad shock, TALL

05-08 - tall, CR's were fast, tall square ergonomics wide tank knees hit hole in shroud, OK handling, same good suspension.

09 and up - Fantastic handling, tall, motor had odd issues earlier bikes did not. CR's were generally better performance wise. New frame made it simple to work on and handle amazing. I like forks and shock. Great bike.

Overall my favorite 125 was the 09 and up.... great off road bike, great torque, decent suspension, and made for an adult not a short kid....

I only have had the briefest ride on a '14 150XC and liked it. I'll be doing the 150 conversion after the last enduro of the season. I still need the 150XC CDI. Trying to calm down about buying '16 TC125, doing 150 woods conversion and adding estart. It's probably more sensible to see what '17 brings for enduro models, but what's sensible about dirt bikes!

I seem to be heading down the '16 125 path.... i usually dont get 1st years models but this thing is just too cool.... but i'll have my 300 back by then too

If what I understand is true the 125/150 will not have any changes in 2017.
Now KTM made it a point to lower the price on the 125/150 and I see the TE125 listed at 7699.00 well above the otd price of a KTM.

I wouldn't expect much in the way of changes to the '17 125/150SX and the TC125.....
Usually with KTM, changes come first to MX models and then filters down to enduro models. I would expect the '17 TE125 to be the new frame and engine. Still a question mark as to whether Husky gets a TE150? The fact that KTM gets a '16 125SX and a 150SX and Husky only gets a TC125, with the option of buying a 150 kit, just adds to the question. It would have seemed with the demise of the 150XC in '15, that a TE150 with the old bore and stroke motor, would have been a natural low volume replacement.

What will be the KTM small capacity big bore off road bike be.... the 150 or 200 variant of new engine?
Word at the KTM off road demo rides, at the National Enduros.... the 200XC-W goes away after '16. KTM is cutting way back on availability of the 200XC-W this year. Dealers I've spoken to, are all getting one 200, when they ordered two or three.

Hard to compare price on KTM SX and Husky TE.... TE125 was almost $1000 more than the TC125 in '15. KTM has no comparable off road 125 in the US Market, so hard to say. '15 TE125 was about $200 more than a '15 KTM 200XC-W though.

i reckon the 150 version enduros would do ok here(well better than the 125 enduros-no 125exc at all just te125 which doesn't get pushed much). bit more forgiving to ride for beginners & a bit more oomph for experienced riders. I guess it has to do with EWC classes only being 125cc max(why not 150cc anyway in E1? they race against the 250cc 4Ts FFS)

makes me wonder why ktm would not make as many 200s available as possible. tooling is all there, easy assembly/parts, proven thing. why wouldn't ya just try sell as many as you could before they become extinct?

i find it hard to believe they don't sell enough to keep making them there must be a loop hole how many times did Jeff ride a 200KDX in the six days 200 is a very nice size damn the rules sell it world wide if theres enough of them showing up at the races they'll change the rules riders need to stand up pissed about hi prices EZ fix write a letters and dont buy a new bike what do you think would happen if all the privateers showed up at a national with a 2t then refused to race because the rules aren't fair
