250-500cc New 2014 WR300.

I had a hard time starting mine also. Friends tried to start it also and couldn't believe how hard it was. Then some guy showed me a trick that works every time. I only have to do this if the bike has been sitting for a while. If I am just taking a break in the middle of a ride or killed it I just kick it. The trick is to put the bike in 1st gear and rock it back and forth about 10 times, without pulling in clutch, just enough to bump the piston up and down. It "charges" the cylinder sort of. Works really good when it is cold out and bike has been sitting. I cant believe how good it works.

How's it ride compared to your TE? It's funny you posted this, because I'm thinking of getting a used "little" bike that I can ride when my son comes along. I ride a lot of the same place you do, and have been thinking a light 2T would be fun on those trails.

I don't know the specifics, but there were 2014 built at the Italian factory. Manufactures have to plan well in advance, so I assume BMW had already had the wheels in motion to produce 2014 Huskies and already had parts from their suppliers. The Italian 2014's are just the same old(awesome) bike with new graphics. Austrian Huskies are basically Husabergs with different graphics.

Two totally different bikes. Much lighter feeling. It's tall like the 511 but I don't get that tip over feeling like when you're on a hill or step up on the 511 and you
lose your momentum due to flameout or whatever, unless you've got really long legs there's a good chance you're going down. Also the power is way more
explosive. It's a fun bike. I've only got three hours time on it bone stock. Haven't even set the sag yet.
Another question: What oil are you guys using in the crankcase and how often do you change it ? Thanks for all the help and advice, much appreciated.

Have fun with the Woods Raper 300. I love mine. Just going over the bike today and got it running again (post race season tear down). I threw in a DEY needle and a smaller pilot havent ridden it yet but sitting in the shop it was idling better then it ever has and the throttle response sounded a little more crisp. Started easier too. You can save a few bucks by doing that needle and pilot rather than a $100 plus jet kit. Whatever the case, check your jetting and see whats in there. Im running about 48:1 with 100 octane and Klotz synthetic.
I have to agree on kicking it back more than down. Be careful on the kickstand tho. Thats risky. Speakin of kickstands, Id get a ktm tether for your stand. Drill a small hole in your airbox and pull it thru. The stand will pogo pivot and hit the ground while riding.
Theres other mods out there once you want to dig in. Just search this site you'll find all kinds of stuff.

I'm a little more down and dirty on the KS retainer.

per manual first change is 4 hours. needs a 24mm socket. subsequent changes are 16 hours if riding enduro vice MX. I use 10W-40 engine oil in the transmission. 800ml.

Since it's a 2 stroke, it's not a crankcase, it's the transmission. I use Walmart ATF and change it every 2 rides or so. I've tried Rotella T and synthetic motor oil, but I have less clutch drag with the ATF. I slip the heck out of the clutch on hills and still have the original clutch plates.

I use Spectro synthetic trans oil in the transmission. 62 hours on original clutch plates and I am on the clutch ALL the time.

I tried this when I got home from work tonight and it fired up on the second kick, cold garage and all. Now could it be that I'm just getting the hang of this ? Possibly,
but I think you're on to something here. I didn't even rock it ten times, 3 or 4 is all. Worked like a charm.

My new 300 has recluse...and I am wondering what am I giving up by not having regular clutch? My goal is to keep it gear taller and lug it..

I dono..Ive never used a rekluse. Seems like it would be awesome to have but at the same time, I like the concept of all the thought and technique it takes to manipulate a clutch during a race. Kinda like if you ever get a chance to ride a late 60s or earlier Triumph. Right hand shift and more technique to start the thing than a WR300 haha. Its the feeling of really riding and operating the motorcycle.

My rekluse exp 2.0 goes into my wr300 tomorrow. I put one in my kx250. ks9mm, was yours an easy install in the wr300?

I feel the cable actuated OEM clutch and heavy flywheel on the WR300 is butter smooth. Had rekluse on three other bikes before (GasGas 250 EC, KX250 '06, YZ250 '07) but feel no need on this one. That said, I'm sure it's a good mod.

I did not do the install. I bought the bike with it from member here. He did mention that reading instructions second time helped

I liked the exp but it has stiffer clutch springs which made for a heavier clutch pull. Some people don't mind this. I use a Rekluse Zstart pro with three extra tungston balls and, I couldn't be happier. Great mod.

jerbear610, I have had great luck with that procedure. I try to go 10 times roughly, works everytime. I tried the piston just over TDC method people talked about, even the dealer demonstrated the day I bought it, and that worked probably 60 percent of the time, so I stick with the rocking method when it is cold.
