You threw all those parts on and you'll still be 2k south of a KTM either color...don't forget the bulletproof Zip Ty shark fin.

I was waiting for Tinken to say that.

It is on the list. I need to call Kim and get one coming.

I must be spoiled here price wise cuz I'm looking for a new 2T ATM and found a new 2015 TE250 and 300 for 7800 OTD or 300 xcw for 8100 OTD. The electric start, headlight tail light and fact they can be plated here makes it pretty hard to spend that much on a kickstart YZ. I love Yamaha and I have one in the garage but the YZX still has a ways to go before they catch my interest. Now a WR250 smoker with e start and lighting... Hell ya!

At least the Yamaha has the suspension sorted from the factory though. Big plus there.

Definitely not in California...although if I really wanted I could have gotten a TE300 or Beta 300rr for under $9K OTD earlier this year. Never with a plate but that's a different woe is me story. Timing and availability is indeed everything.

I'd take 110kg for an ally framed 2t any day. Ktm would be 108-110 wet wouldn't it? Dry is 102/103kg

Excited to see next years enduros from ktm/husky. Look at how much lighter their estart mx bikes are then everyone elses this year. Big leap for the enduro bikes. Hopefully we see more from yamaha soon, this is a great start

    250x is 242 wet
    250fx is 249 wet
    450fx est around 256 wet

    ktm 250xc 230 wet
    fc250 is 236 wet
    fc350 is 236 wet
    fc450 is 239 wet

so it looks like a diet is in order.... especially when you consider the 250x has no estart....

But again its a good start and I hope they sell out and upgrade all the 2 strokes soon... then maybe Honda will make one too....

No offense, but to compare 2016 apples to 2016 apples, (in California):
    2016 KTM 250 XC-W: $8,499 + fees: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/mcd/5280640298.html
    2016 Yamaha YZ250X: $7,390 + fees: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/mcd/5287990679.html
Same dealership. $1,109 difference and you have to immediately spend > $500 to fix the 4CS forks on the KTM.
Though, the first thing I'd probably do is pop $400 on a Lectron for the YZ. Whereas, from what I've heard, the stock carb on the XC-Ws is pretty good.

Still not apples to apples though since the YZ has no e start, lighting coil or lights. I need all those and adding it would far exceed the difference in price. I hope Yamaha steps up big next year and gets serious.

I took a Yamaha survey a couple of days ago, I guess I'm on their mailing list from buying a new yz450 a couple years ago. The questions were what is more important to you on your next Yamaha purchase and the choices were between e-start vs. 4 lbs lighter and air forks and 2 lbs. lighter vs. spring forks. I think Yamaha is serious about giving people what they want. For me e-start is not worth the weight and extra parts but I would much rather have the sweet ss forks than the 2 lbs. and air forks.

Also the Kehin or the mikuni that are on the YZs are as good as any KTM carb and none of them are better than a Lectron so the $400 for the Lectron applies to all bikes as far as I'm concerned.

This is based on the complaints from friends that have owned YZs and KTMs; another plus for YZs are that factory replacement parts are much more reasonable in price.

From what I understand from test riders I know and just talked to the 4cs this year just needs a respring....

He also said the hardware on the Yamaha was junk compared to the KTM (ad he is a yamaha rider for 15 years).... and the little things like 2 wrenches for things that only takes 1 on a ktm....

Hydro clutch is a benefit to me

Estart on 2 stroke who cares but 4 stroke is a must to me

I dont need a Lectron on a 2 stroke jetting is not that hard

Yes you can make Yamaha 8 lbs lighter with a Battery and exhaust but same applies to KTM....

I'm personally strongly leaning towards FC350 or TC125.... or maybe both

I seriously considered a ktm 150sx that I would add a larger tank to but the 4cs turned me away. When ktm/Husky moves out of last place in the suspension department on every shootout I will have a look. The yz125 isn't the lightest but light enough and even though the critics keep saying it's outdated and 2005 technology it still wins first overall in the comparison, as did the yz250. I already own a yz125 but would consider selling it for a better one if anyone decides to make one.

Ya like 20 more miles to a tank of fuel and more power and smoother power from idle to wide open.

I have to admit that the lack of hydro clutch on my WR 250 is starting to dig at me. I am considering an add-on Magura but man are they pricey. And yes, I've done all the adjustments of the push rod/actuating arm, including lengthening the actuating lever. But I still want more from it. And less adjustment.

e-start doesn't concern me too much, but there are times when I'm beat and have thought how nice it would be to have one. So I'm on the fence in the debate about Yami vs. KTM. Maybe the xtrainer is the way to go.

Maybe 20 play miles not 20 race miles... i know a guy with one on a YZ and he still has to gas and has ran out in a 90 min plus one lap hare scramble

And again everyone has their "needs" or "wants"....

I can jet a bike, there is stuff I would spend $400 and get much more bang for the buck... suspension, Rekluse, Flexbars

    But again its just me
