Mine had bel Ray gear saver in it when I bought it, and I hated it. Been using rotella since then. Amsoil dominator seems to work ok. Put over 70 hrs on the original piston. I'd tel you what oil to use in the forks, but you're just going to put 5w in it anyway, then wonder why they're harsh and deflect.

Yes, you should be ok. You need to be under 94db. You can get an app to do a rough check but really, they aren't that loud.
Michelin s12's work great on the front. I run moto z on the back. Do a plug check to get your jetting dialled in.
Rob Lang can really set up the suspension for you.

    Tell me, tell me.:)

I like amsoil dominator because it is red and that way I know my mixed gas. I used to use interceptor but it didn't have any colour so I often dumped gas into the truck if I though there was a possibility it didn't have oil.

Love this forum and advice here. Amsoil dominator it is then. Bought the Belray so might as well use it up and then switch to Rotella(which one?) I used Rotella in my 4 stroke with rekluse at 0w40...worked beauty. Another question here....I'm hearing crazy ratios with Amsoil....what are you guys running...32:1?

    I run 50:1 on everything I own....

    I use Rotella T triple 15-40 but

The guys at Rekluse now are also suggesting other motorcycle brands (probably from pressure from the industry)...

    Belray
    Maxima
    Motul
    amsoil

the key is it needs to be JASO MA or JASO-MA2 on the package

15-40 here too. It's cheap, and it works. If you're planning on keeping the bike for a while, get one of those 'memberships' from Amsoil. Can't recall what they called it, but I did a few years ago, and bought a case of Dominator, shipping included, for a little more than half what it cost in the store. You could always split a case with somebody, too. They (Amsoil) say you can run 50-1, and if you're running hare scrambles or enduros, that shouldn't be a problem. I run a fair bit of MX, and scream the bike, so I feel a lot more comfortable at 32-1. For long hare scrambles, I run 40-1

Wondering how that stock silencer comes apart....any tips? Will try wife's new hairdryer while she is away to expand the main chamber from the tip... heheheheh. GOT IT...just a little inginuity...packing looked pretty fresh...not super oil soaked.....further confirms this previous owner really didn't ride it....

Stock Silencer is a bit of a bugger to get apart but it is doable. What I did was get a 32mm curved stainless steel elbow from a stainless supplies place for both of ours and then welded to outlet so shit doesn't go over the guard and also welded some tabs to pull the end off. Works great now and easy to pull apart.

Regarding jetting. Best needle is the Rm needle search this site and anything with lankydoug name in it read his posts. He has the most knowledge Needle is a 6CHY 17-62
out of a RM 125 from 04 ish and get a half carb washer to finely adjust height, mid works fine though. It just makes the 150 run sweet. Check yours first. The idle jet should be around 20 but will vary on altitude. Once you have idle set properly thing will idle all day without issue, unheard of for all other 2 strokes. Great bottom end power as well.

    Other mods.
people do suggest and I have drilled fuel drain plug out to allow fuel to enter main easier.
large 50mm bright mild washer under wheel nut to limit thread damage.
improved waterproofing around top of airbox. poly sheet
run oil breather up and into airbox, with small auto air fuel filter as well
gearbox volume can be increased slightly without drama (750ml)
change front axle nut to bolt, and use old nut in headstem for petrol breather
locate hour meter up under seat on coil bracket
    I run fork seal savers
get suspension tuned to your weight and its a magic ride. KYB seals for front?

    that's about it.

That fork oil that Zw likes sounds really good. I already had Maxima 5wt, so that's what I put in the 150 along with proper springs for me. Same setup on the 300 and it's not harsh, doesn't deflect that I can tell, plush actually, but doesn't bottom... yet. I did have to adjust the clickers a few times. I weigh @ 160lb/72.5kg, and ended up with 1 click on the compression and 6 or 8 on the rebound, IIRC. Haven't had a chance to test same setup on the 150 yet, because of the nasty weather we've been having.

Funny, the carb boot on my 300 has been a complete nightmare. I'm on my 3rd and have it wrapped in rubber tape just in case. The one on my new-to-me wr150 I assume is original and it's fine.
I would suggest buy 2 and 2 gaskets also, check your reeds while in there and put a gasket on either side of the reed block

Spent the morning removing and inspecting all linkage bearings, bushing, and subframe bits and pieces for stripped bolts etc. No play, cleaned up well and everything looks pretty good. Regreased and installed with proper torque. Feeling more confident about this bike. Ordered up a carb boot and air filter, repacked the stock silencer and just need to remove and inspect the front end. Luckily I have a couple more months to get suspension refreshed and put some new rubber on. This bike is SO MUCH EASIER TO WORK ON THAN MY TE 450 !!

Curious when you say depending on how I'm going to run it. Is the thought lower ratio if screaming the bike ie moto vs higher ratio (40-50:1) if riding trail ie Limerick single track etc. The more I read...the more confused I'm getting.

I pulled the carb apart and cleaned it up while noting all the jets:

    pilot 35
    main 460
    needle 6BFY43 on third clip
    air screw out 1.5 turns

Appears these are all stock settings....another silly question...how do I confirm it has the 144 in it vs the original 125? Original pipe and muffler. Looking forward to actually riding this thing to clarify whether jetting needs changing. Figure if it ran great for previous owner on stock settings...a 1/4 turn in on air screw will all that will be needed for March/April spring riding?

Racing , I use more oil in the mix. For trail riding , less, as the wife and kids ride the bike and tend to lug it.
Pretty much have to pull the head to confirm the 144. I bought a 125 from a dealer that was supposed to be a 144 and didn't find out it was really a 125 till I went to change the piston.
Can't help with the carb as I run a lectron.

hehehehe if you guys are referring to my "gal"...She's put together waiting for my oring for the carburator and then time for play...pending on weather. As you can see....weather in Kingston Ontario is a taaaaad more snowmobile than Enduro right now hehehehe

Still snow on ground but the thaw is coming. Bought some gas and made my first batch of pre-mix. have been dying to kick this over since i took the carb apart and gave it a good cleaning. Turned on gas pulled choke and started kicking....looked down and found gas spewing out of overflow. Pulled off carb and bent the tab on the float attachment a tad...put it back together and voila....fixed.

First impression of going through the gears in the subdivision hahahahahah....this little smoker throws me back in my seat comparably to the 450!!! This further confirmed anything more than a 150 for woods riding just wont be needed...made a good choice me thinks. Pulled plug and light marshmellow roasted brown. Looking forward to April and mini pine enduro!
