It's 600 miles one way to China Hat for me and it'll be in the 20s overnight if the highs are mid 50s. Count me out.

600 miles for me too but that weather which is pretty much what it was last year was great. Of course I had a nice warm bed in the hotel.

Before people start saying they won't, or will, go. Give me a bit of time, at least 10 days. Not sure what I can come up with, but anything is possible.

I've seen 70 degree days out there in mid Nov, so dont let the temps scare anyone.
Anyway, just bring a few beers and a cold weather bag. Problem solved

I think I'm going to sell my RV before then, so I'll be bagging it myself

I've got a few people commited for that weekend so far. I can probably get a dozen people to go, but I'm not sure I want to crowd the campground with my unruly, non-husky riding friends.

Drive time between Bend & China Hat? 30 minutes or so?

I am assuming that there are reasonable hotels in Bend, though I did not look for them.

Yeah, pretty much, There's a couple routes depending on which part of town you stay in. Bend has everything from fleabag to oh-my-god expensive for hotels.

    Coffee,

I hope you can put it together as a number of us from my neck of the woods are pretty excited for an end of October bend event.

In this respect, Bend / China Hat is far superior to Stonyford... which is pretty remote. It might be possible that some would prefer not to camp, the ones without camping gear, toy hauler, or just want a nice place to stay.

We will have a dozen over from the valley, Camp II, not all on Huskys but they are all welcome, besides you always need someone around to do the dishes!

I can pull back up my general information document from last year and update it so all the logistics stuff is in one downloadable place....

Since MoombadRdr opened the can of worms about campsites..

We may want to consider Camp 25 ... it is between 2510 and Camp II, tends to be underused and ignored (you many notice that the FS link up above barely mentions it, this may be why nobody knows about it) it is larger than Camp II, easy to get toyhauler into, doesnt seem to attract the swarms of minibikes running through camp that 2510 has ....

I may be out there this weekend and take some pics so we all have an idea what we are talking about.

There's better cell coverage at Camp 25 than either of the other camps too if that matters to anyone. Camp II has almost none (have to walk up on the hill to get any service) and 2510 is spotty but Camp 25 was pretty reliable last year.
