An even firing 3 cyl will not have any of the benefits of the crossplane idea. Even firing is.......normal. There is no crossplane advantage here unless I am missing it?

The R1 has a true moto gp inspired crossplane crank with uneven firing that makes the most beautiful inline 4 sound I have heard. Simply amazing. The triples are just....normal?

Yea as long as you stay at 55 MPH. That's like 6000 RPM. Any more than that and you'll vibrate the thing to pieces.

I'm not here to argue crossplane or not. Only reason I listed it is Yamaha listed it that way.

Hahaa, No no no, I am DEFINITELY not trying to argue! I am just curious as to why they are calling it a crossplane crank. I just want to be informed :)

That is why I was asking if I am missing anything?

I kind of think its a marketing gimmick. The 700cc twin looks promising.

;) I wonder what phrase I should use to describe the direct connection between my a@@ and the seat? ;)
    Suggestions appreciated :)

The entire world is marketing on some level ... Not just a 1-12 cylinder engine. And the beat goes on, and the beat goes on ... Good luck :)

I think it replaced the KTM SMT on the top of my list....but I'm not sure  definitely need to test ride one

My buddy just put a deposit on one in orange. $8000 out the door! I'm going to be the next one in our group to pull the trigger -- that is after I ride the KTM 1190 Adventure. But I'm seriously leaning toward the FZ-09.
