the Dakar writers also missed that Chris Blais had a 3rd place OA when they mentioned only 2 US riders have finished on the podium. This Guy on a 900cc (Ducati Twin) Cagiva Elefant was also one of them (note the guy in the background also did many top tier offroad/ rally/enduro challenges for Husqvarna and KTM in his racing career as well)
Just read a French report as well as I can read French Pela Renet suffered a grave crash...........not good by the sound of it.
Pela still sore and shaken. Recovering quietly from this.. Come back in France in the next days for a big rest
