Well after a ride yesterday.. I got home and found oil dripping from my airbox onto swing arm and rear tire.. Im sure its from the breather hose.. I expect a bit of oil mist fomthe breather hose, but not to saturate my whole filter.. I did remove the catch canister.. Im sure wheelies did not help the oil spout. How would I stop this from happening? TIA MODS.. please change typo in title "oil"
If your bike is new and you have not cleaned your air filter yet, I bet it is oil dripping off the air filter itself. My airbox dripped oil when new and it was simply the air filter oil husky used from the factory. KP
Yeah, I saw your post on that a couple weeks ago. I cleaned it and let it dry just before this last ride.. its motoroil for sure.. I just cant beleive it was so much to resaturate the filter and made a drippy mess.. Plus it was also a pain to take the airbox off and getting it to latch back up the the rubber elbow from throttlebody.. Bad design.. IMO. any other advise? I would hate to wipe oil off after every rise.. an the thought of the rear tire slide from under me unsuspectingly..
Did you do your own oil change? The 630 takes less than 2qts, any more than about 2.5 and you'll get exactly what you see there (from experience...). Make sure it didn't get into your rear pads, because it will ruin them.
`Tis easy to get the rubber elbow back on if you start at the other end and THEN fix it on the airbox. The bad design part is mainly expecting the thing to breathe through that snorkel at the back. Opening it up makes a great difference,.
I pot two quarts in. With filter. . Let it drain quite a while. Its below the top levil indicator line.. so its not that overfilled.. I guess.. ill put less than 2 quarts next time
Is it below the top line when the bike is warm and standing upright, or when it's cold and on the sidestand? The oil level is read with the bike vertical.
its below the top line when the bike is on a flat surface and is standing straight up. after its started.. and in the morning when its cold.. i dont check the oil level on the side stand.. does not make sense.. unless its a husky way of doing so?
I also I found that the specified amount of oil did NOT reach the lower end of the inspection glass, so I put in a bit too much and still couldnĀ“t see where it went . But a few days later it somehow suddenly was ok! Think your oil in the box was put in at the factory, as the foam filter on mine was very wet from the outset.
no.. as answered.. i cleaned the filter and box prior.. the foam filter oil and motor have a different texture and smell. the foam filter oil is clear/translucent white. its motor oil for sure..
You're supposed to check it with the engine off because a lot of oil sits in the head on cold startup. If the oil is cold it can take up to a minute for the level to stabilize in the window, which is why i suggested checking it warm, verticle, engine off. If you fill it to the line onthe side stand, there will be too much oil, so yeah don't do that :P
4th gear power wheelies, I'd imagine! On topic, I'd make sure you have the right amount of oil (from the sounds of it, you've done that), clean it up good, and see if the problem persists.
Lol.. no fourth gear wheelies... I wish.. first gear.. from stops.. just for fun.. not too much.. if it does it again.. I may reroute and dummy up a catch can.. oil level is fine guys.. I'm surprised no body else has this issue.. ill jusgt recheck after another ride.. I do lean it.. so idk know if its from that either.. I understand if I over filled it but its not.. don't know if there maybe something off about it or not since no one has the same issue
I am having the same problem. Oil level seems fine, but higher rpm riding tends to blow a lot of oil into the air box. I did open the air box up a little more by drilling on the front and lower sides. Any additional info would be helpful.
If it bothers you enough, I would find an in/out catch can and run the line either back to the airbox or to the ground to one side, I don't like oil fumes spraying my back tire
