If it is a 2014 bike it wont need the swingarm drilling - take a closer look. Husky took note of the defect, but instead of fixing the root cause they left out a small part of the weld at the wheel bolt recess thereby creating a drain hole on later bikes.
I planned on a full day of exploring around NW Florida, north of the Panama City area. Taking in as many dirt roads as I could and to try to find a few places I have wanted to check out but never seemed to have the time. I enjoy this time of the year as we have a wild flower bloom here that makes even the mundane straight stuff kind of pretty. As you get closer to the Alabama border you come across a lot more cotton fields. Quite a few had already been harvested. This one was being worked as I was there. A dad with this daughter riding along in the harvester. Only in Florida do they feel the need to actively warn you that a road may have some hills and turns in it. I know winding roads are a rarity and I have to say I did find the local traffic was a bit slow. Made my way on to a spring head I have wanted to visit for a few years now. The divers in the area said there is a cave down there and that it was about 45 feet deep. I am going back with my Kayak & snorkel gear. Really pretty spot. Now on to the unexpected find of the trip. On one of the roads I saw evidence where another motorcycle had gone through. Lots of squirrelly tracks where ever the sand got deep. My first thought was a noob ADV rider on his behemoth with street tires. I had to follow these tracks and see where this guy was going. About 1/2 mile in I saw where whom ever it was had crashed pretty good, then just over the next small hill I found the bike: I was really hoping I was not going to find the rider pinned under it. I called out to see if the rider was in the area. Scouted around the area too and hit all the connecting roads. You will note my own tire tracks in some of the photos above as I went back and forth trying to find this guy and/or foot prints. When I returned home I sent the photos (including one of the plate) to the county sheriffs office along with the GPS location. I still dont know if this bike was stolen & dumped or just a poor kid trying to get to one of the area lakes to fish and got over his head. I cant imagine leaving my bike like this, as it was somewhat up upside down on that hill. There was no evidence that it was ever on its side-stand. Hoping the sheriff will let me know.
Dang, that had to be a gutt sinking experience, you were looking for a fun fishing hole and run across a suspicious incident with a bike. Hope everything is alright, maybe just a tip over and couldn't pick it up. Probably got hurt and had to walk out.
I vote for a stolen bike and they dumped it out in the boonies. Could even be insurance fraud. Dump it where there is nobody around, report it stolen, insurance pays it off.
Suspicious all right! either way he would taken his/the backpack.. hmmm, I bet he was near by watering his plantation anyhows Great pics!
I called the County Sheriffs office yesterday to check up on this. They acknowledged receiving my e-mail, as they did when I called them the day I sent it. They did not have any record that anything was done beyond forwarding my e-mail on to the closest towns Police department (30 miles from where I found the bike). I am pretty sure the rider of that bike was not anywhere near where I found it. I scouted around the area on foot and on the bike. I do believe the rider was hurt and/or exhausted. I saw where they had crashed it not far from where I eventually found the bike. I am surprised they left the back pack, but there are odd things about this whole situation. Its about 1 1/2 hours away from where I live, I will try to get out there again this weekend to see if it is still there.
Took the Terra out today. I had driven out some dirt roads on my 250 back in the summer and looked on the google satellite and noticed there was a pond/lake/watering hole out somewhere close, so I headed for that today. Dang weather was near perfect. A bit chilly in the morning, but once up into the hills, awesome. Recent rains settled the dust and deep sand. I found it, tucked back out of the way, bunch of ducks took off when I walked up. Terra ran perfect, and the Rekluse worked perfect and what a joy to ride. Never choked it out, tractor'd through tough stuff like a champ.
Just looking at that sky and scenery, AZ seems the be the place to be in November. Very tempted to put a recluse in my Terra
Here's some shots from our last outing. For this event I built a custom bolt on "wifey seat" as I wanted to take her to see some of the beauty of the back country in So. Utah.
The past few years I've taken my Terra camping in the Mitchell River National Park for the Domino Rally. This year was no exception, but the image is a photosphere. After you open the link you should be able to use the mouse scrollwheel to zoom in and out and the left button to drag it around. It will show as a 360° sphere in Chrome and Firefox. https://plus.google.com/10464858039...6217245686902776418&oid=104648580394866335637
I love the Wifey booster seat. That is a big complaint of my wife is she gets sick of "looking at the back of my helmet". What is your height vs your wife's?
NE Oregon is a big area...where abouts? Great shots.... Oops...found the link and map, all good, thanks
