Hello LED and Thumpa, I am running Shinko 705's which I have also use on my 98 KLR. I have read that the 705's are #4 on the best dual sports tire list? The Metallic Cylinder is a 139 db Strebel Nautilus Horn from Twisted Throttle. My Skidplate is a Moose Unit from my KLR that has been Adapted to the Terra. On Monday Feb 1st a fellow Terra rider "Arvin" modified (cut) and Mig weld the left side pipe and installed his spare LEXX Muffler - Sweet Mellow Sound but when I got home the Right Side rear directional had started to melt on top = fabricated bracket to lower directional's 1 inch and attached to rear fender supports. PS Kuya in Tagalog means Brother. Regards, Chris
M1A2T Thanks for the pics. Plate seems to offer some nice functional coverage. I sure like the look of that pipe, could we see a larger or closer image?
Hello again, I have attached 2 images, whole bike in my carport and a crop of the pipe. As you can see there are no rear directional's as I was still fabricating a new mount. Hope this helps. Regards, Chris
hanks Chris, Thing looks stout! So is that a new sweep from the divided section and cap the unused junction. Or just one continuous?
Hi Thumpa, I directed that the original Left Side pipe to be cut 1" above the "Y" (Divided), it was then capped and after it cooled pored in water looking for leaks = negative. Then heated up the outside to burn off any water residue, then applied the (per-wetted) Thermal Wrap. Lastly, you only need the LEXX Mxe Muffler and no mid-pipe. I just went and measured the stock pipe in front of the Lexx and the caliper states 1.835". additionally the Lexx comes w 2 springs to maintain tension so these also need to be welded on the stock pipe. Regards, Chris
the black wheels and that black (whatever it is?) front fender really make that bike. nicely put together
Took a 250 mile ride last week, weather was awesome. This was on the way to Parker Canyon Lake. Both bikes ran spectacular, I was on the Guzzi and my neice was on the Terra. I may just have to keep both bikes.
...and the old rear Tourance hung in....barely! What is it about Thumpers ...and big grins? A DR650 home-built tripod.
Replace is such a harsh word Plan on spending some money on the suspension, it is a brick. I think some new valving is needed. Kits are available online for the V7. Went out for a ride again today, weather has been unbelievably perfect for riding this time of year. This bridge was a nice surprise, water running in the (high) desert, 80 degrees in February, go figure. Heading up into the hills Looking back from Montezuma Pass
Hi Hello Clete, Thank you for your kind words. That front Black Fender is a Acerbis SM that is pre-cut for air flow to radiator. But in mounting it I used some fold-able 1/4 rubber mat to provide some relief from vibration and where the stock 2 screws mount to the headlight - I used the husky screws but used zip ties to hold the headlight to the front forks to reduce any slack. Regards, Chris
Hey Biff, Great photos! I'm heading into the Victorian alps over the Labour day weekend. What route did you take (roughly)?
Hey M1a2TechPI, cool "working on the bike photos". I get over to PI every couple years or so to visit the wife's family in Cebu. I wish I had my Terra there to ride when we're there, maybe one day..... Usually we just borrow a bike from one of her brothers. This was from a day ride we did last trip. My wife was shooting the pix while we were riding, she's getting pretty good at it. I think we'll be going back this year if it works out.
