Mike sent me this link showing the center stand, it does look like it attaches where the Uptite skid plate is.
Cigar Mike's center stand, Jardine silencer, with adapter pipe, all from Bill's Husky in Salem, OR. 503-585-1153
the last inquiry I made he was going to fit one of his 610 stands to a new 630, which was probably ChiefRiders's bike. If it fit he was going to make them available to 630 owners. I guess we need to get on that thread and ask him. I'd like one, just didn't have the bucks to drop for one, I think they'are about $150. EDIT: I just looked at the thread over there and he has posted that he's closed down 'till later this month....gone riding. I do have a request for one once he figures out if the 610 one will work as is or with mods. He'll make them available to us once he has it dialed in. Will post a follow up as soon as I hear something, or put your own inquiry in over on the advrider thread.
I have one on my 610. Wonderful piece of kit. Cigar Mike Rocks!! Does the 630 have the little tabs on the frame? Those stick down just behind the sidestand mount location. They are little tabs with approx 12 - 15 mm holes in them for the bolts. He does include instructions for making it work with the Uptite skid plate. If you have those there is some chance that the 610 one will work without much change.
The 630 frame is identical, with the mounting tabs and spring hook too. I think the question was length. Yes, a handy accessory. From all the complaints about husky side stands the new one is improved but the bike still leans over too much with it.
I cut a 3/8 piece of aluminum plate into an appropriately-size triangle and had it welded on. Any radiator shop can do the welding for you if you don't have the equipment.
Wot´s wrong with the centre stand designed for and sold by Husky? It´still in the parts list, so must be available from all registered dealers.
It's not available to order thru Husqvarna, per Dan at Motoxotica. It's in the parts list but the part number(s) don't show up in the stock list for parts ordering from the NA depot. Maybe able to source it from someone in Europe.
I bought a 511 stand from a member here. I'm trimming it to length (it's too long for the TE) and having an aluminum foot welded on, as mentioned above. The stock stand works fine when I have the SM wheels on, but is too short in TE mode. Swapping stands will add 10 minutes to trip preparations...something I can live with. BTW - I've seen a 610 with a tubular steel sidestand. Must be aftermarket...wonder where it came from.
I didn't know that. I would figure steel would be stronger than aluminum...but you still need to make it properly.
Yeah the new aluminum ones are nice and pretty dang strong. The steel ones had a tiny footprint and were spindly and prone to bending.
