Just kiddin, but the guy didn't post the vid cus he wasn't sure if the other guy wanted it public knowledge. Clayton had a copy kind of on the down-low. At least that's what I thought??
I saw the vid on Clayton's notebook in the campground a few hours after it happened, surrounded by folks that were involved. I didn't get the impression that anything untoward was going on. The vid got posted on a public forum and I saw it there, too. It was then taken down shortly thereafter (probably a good idea,) not to appear until now. Just last night Eric and I were talking about riding NM someday. Should I bring my set of boxing gloves when you invite us out?
All I'm seeing is an error message. "The creator of this video has not given you permission to embed it on this domain"
Thanks, sobering footage that could have happened to any of us. We actually ran across a work crew on Monday and mentioned sight lines on corners like that. It would be good to get that footage into the hands of a crew to show how important sight lines are on those trails.
Please do forward that vid if you know any DNR folks. Nobody else needs to have an experience like that! I love riding @ the Hat, but its a roll of the dice with those high speed 2 way trails. Ouch!
The DNR guys actually came and found me to ask about my similar head on and where it was as they were working on sight line issues. A first i did not want to give up the info as i feared it would be used to close the place down but quickly realized these guys really cared and wanted to make things better.
Wondering if this is going to happen again for 2011. Hoping so... Had a great time riding out with Walt and meeting the rest of the gang...
Any interest in making it Stonyford? http://maps.google.com/maps?q=stonyford ca&ll=39.376772,-122.541504&spn=5.799099,11.634521&gl=us&z=7 About 7 hours south of Bend OR, and about 9 hours north of Corona CA - Possibly getting the HNA people to come up from so cal...
Spring used to be the best time of year imho - but the last 2 years the weather has been weird - snow very late in the season. Fall is probably more reliable... whenever there is not an organized event there. I would like to point out that Stonyford is *much* different than where we met in OR. More like Clear Creek (before it closed).
I suppose Stonyford gets pretty dusty when it drys out? I might be up for coming down there. Probably eight hours of driving, I'd guess. The Coast Range trails up here have been great and stay pretty good through the summer.
I also would go for Stonyford ... or how about the Shasta Dam area (I forget the name). Nice to see some new trails and some of us could ride share from Oregon. I am open to other ideas too.
