I will edit the link if needed. Thanks! This event is approx. 20 miles east of Bend, OR off Hwy 20. This is coming together nicely
Oh yeah. He loves that bike. I figured you were from BDS when I saw that pic from the Ridge. Especially since I knew Rooster, Shane and Ken teamed up with some folks from BDS. Small world! I'm sure he'll be rolling down with me in Oct. Hope to see you there
Good idea Dean. Calendar .. is there a calendar? ... I'll be danged there is. We need to designate a camping/gathering area. Ive never camped out there so not sure which one is best.
Um... the hint was to have one of you find upstanding members with good organizational qualities put it on the calender. I went ahead and put it on there.
Since we have a XC race there the next weekend, looks like some of us from Southern Oregon we head over with the toyhauler and hang out.
Here is an overview of the Central Oregon riding areas. We will be at East Fort Rock, but the others are nearby. If you are using a dual sport you could ride from EFR to some of the others. If you follow the links there are maps on each riding area page. http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/recreation/cohvops/developed.shtml http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/recreation/cohvops/efrindex.shtml
You know it. I'll be rolling down Thursday night (late) and ready for a Friday morning desert rip Any preference on camp spots? I like camp II (a little more off the beaten path and in the tree line/shaded), but not sure it'll be large enough or easy enough to find for the uninitiated. Can't wait to get out there and twist some throttle again! http://contour.com/video/efr-07-bike-swap http://contour.com/video/efr-03
Hwy 97 South (about a half mile south of the Wal Mart) East on 18/China Hat/Arnold Ice Cave road (you cant turn left onto China Hat when southbound on 97; continue south to next exit, go east and the road curves back around and intersects China Hat road, then turn right to go SE towards the OHV area) Continue about 26 miles ... About half a mile after crossing the 1835 road, turn left (on 620?) and proceed 1/2 mile to the Camp II area.. If my combination of OHV maps and Google Maps are correct. http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloreg...s/recreation/cohvops/efrimage/2005-efrmap.pdf http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sou...21.045475&sspn=0.042898,0.084457&ie=UTF8&z=14
Nice work! I'll be coming in from the North off hwy 20 and I will post up signs (unless someone gets there before me and does it) to camp II. here's the GPS coords for camp II from my Garmin: N43 46.081 W121 03.207
You sure about that. Looks like the wrong side of the highway http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...883047,-121.532135&spn=0.769074,1.234589&z=10
BTW sent an Email off to Les at LTR and Jeff (Les' buddy who runs Gasgas.org) and they might be in as well.
Google is a little crazy. When you enter the coords I supplied it shows the location for 43.768017, -121.053450 instead of the coords I supplied Close, but still a few miles away
that looks better PC do you come off 20 to get there or come all the way out 18 (china hat rd)? I know you can get there ether way just wondered what was EZer http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sou...68213&sspn=0.384344,0.617294&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=11
Has anyone considered the advantages of staging at the south end of the plateau that you access through LaPine? Easier access for those who need a hotel, the camping atmosphere is much better do to the denser trees and most of the better trails are in the south end. CD
I come in off Hwy 20 as I always stop in Prineville to fill the RV water tank. If I'm not bringing the RV then I'll drive through Santiam to get some scenery. I personally like the idea, but bost of the people I travel with seem to like the more open staging areas so they can keep an eye on the kids. Especially camp II since there's a kids loop built right next to it. I personally dont care, so if anyone else has a preference then speak up. I'll camp anywhere as long as there's trails, fire pits and cold beers for after the ride
