The JD Tuner is about as easy as it gets for messing with your fueling. It's just about idiot proof and loads more convenient and adjustable than the iBeat settings.
That must mean ME! The 630 is my first carbless bike and I had to `phone JD but made it in the end. Think the p/u plug and the JD were the two most worthwhile of all the changes I made to the bike (except the PlastiDip blackened panels. They made the bike faster too).
These may not make your Husky faster but check out my post (ASV Levers That Fit A SMS 630). I know you have been looking for different levers that will activate the switches as the originals do.
I will have the exact set-up as you do on your SMS 630 in a few weeks. I have two questions concerning the installation of your JD tuner. First what would you do different if you installed it again to save time as you posted earlier, and here is the big one - what are your current settings ? Both of these answers will save me a lot of time. Thanks !
I did contact them and am grateful for your advice. They referred me to their German outlet and I´ve just contacted them to get the levers. Thanks again! Patrick
Patrick, if I remember correctly you changed the reservoir but did you change the perch also ? If so, the part number I used will probably not work for the brake.
Finding the exact contacts took a while and I´d never seen that type of fuel connector previously. But it´s a lot easier to dis- and re-connect as it just snaps on (make double sure that it connects back on properly as I failed to check it had snapped in place and it came off on the motorway ... with dire results). As to the settings, I got what I thought was the optimum after a while (don´t go too high on the green). But have now succumbed to the urge to experiment (wish I could just stop, but it is fun to see how different settings respond under different circumstances). And it´s just too easy to re-set the LEDs. I could now install a JD on a Husky 630 in just a few minutes. The longest part of the job is taking off the tank.
Yes, I `phoned their German representative and told him about the new right hand lever. Just hope the electrical switches really do activate.
Is there any way to do it and not remove the tank ? Also did you see my question if you changed your brake perch ?
With my stock set-up everything works perfectly , both the clutch and brake. There were a few seconds when I didn't realize that the motor had to be running for the brake light to work but once it started up I knew the clutch switch worked and the brake light worked.
B*gger! The German ASV representatives tell me that they no longer stock ASV. And ASV tell me that they don´t sell to countries where they have representative agents. Just in case ASV change their mind, do you have a part number for the short starter lever on the clutch?
Maybe someone in the US that's about to purchase some wouldn't mind adding a second set to the mix and shipping them to you. I'd do it, but I'm probably not going to be buying those levers for quite some time.
I´ll try and get them to deal with me direct, as it´s not my doing that their German representative no longer stocks them.
This is a list of all the part numbers that I ordered. CDC602-SK (SHORT BLACK C6 CLUTCH LEVER) BRC555-SK (SHORT BLACK C5 BRAKE LEVER) KCDC03 (CLUTCH DUST COVER FOR MAGURA) I hope you can get these !
Thanx for the list. Did you get the short decompression lever too? I´ve sent them a mail and hope that they are now prepared to deal direct. No ... you´ll have to remove the tank. Just screw the two fuel taps shut and remove the connecting fuel hose on one side. The tank is only held on by one central bolt on the top. Disconnect the main fuel supply using the quick release connector. All this is easy. Then find where the JD connects. There´s only one way the plugs can go on and JD are very helpful if you can´t find which is which.
I did not get the cold start (decompression ) lever - I didn't check to see if they had one. It would be unique if they do. If you do find one that fits let me know. Keep me posted on how you make out with ASV.
