Better think about reinforcing your subframe if you haven't already. With your setup you have the potential to overload it. _
Seat Concepts foam and cover. Went with all carbon fiber since it's an SMS and I want to be able to slide around.
That is my project for this weekend. Just picked up my air stapler last night. I'm also putting one of their seats on my XR and replacing the seat cover on another dirt bike as well. My justification for buying yet another new tool.
If you got the $25 one from Harbor Freight, take the pressure down a bit. I started at 95 and it was a bit overkill :P
They are Tusk brand, but some other manufacturers make them as well. I got them from Rocky Mountain ATV. Details: Tusk Fork Bleeder Valves 4 x 0.7 Thread - 2009 Husaberg FE 450 1140320002 $10.99
Ha! No kidding, the first shot I put in when right through the cover material and almost through the plastic seat pan.
Make sure you us the rubber O ring from the OEM screw. The KTM bleeders have a smaller O ring that won't seat as good.
latest 2 mods are almost free...... High tensile bolts on footpegs after shearing the standard bolts on both sides.... a must fix for anyone who hits the trials seriously! Second was moving the bard up a few more degrees - makes the front end way more stable on the sand. Both cheap fixes, but if you lose your pegs on a downhill dropoff like I did, you will appreciate the upgrades!!!
Hope you cleaned up and trued the mating surfaces on the peg mounts at the same time - major contributing factor to these failures...
Hi Chief! What size are those Pelican bags? 1520 or 1550? Could need some advice on your choice, thinking about getting the same setup. You happy with'em? Any reinforcement done on the subframe?
I ordered the TCI racks without the black Pelican 1520s, and purchased the orange Pelican 1520 cases to increase visibility, plus I happen to like the orange/white combination (like my first true touring bike's color scheme, a 1972 Suzuki T500). My dealer, Bill's Husky, in Salem, OR, ( billshusky.com/ )beefed the subframe for me by welding thick aluminum plates in the rear triangular area. I plan on stress testing in June by riding the worst continuously travelled gravel roads in America, northwest North Dakota. Tom in Salem
Well I just went through this whole thread from the first post and my wallet is much lighter now! Thanks for that everyone! Haha just kidding. Lots of good ideas on here. Ordered a JD tuner and have the billet rad guards and hyde bash plate on my wish list. Need to get a 14t front sprocket soon too. I think that will be the best mod so far for me. Keep,up the great pictures.
Mounted up a MT43 tire. No time to ride it yet, but can't wait to try it. Never run a trials tire before... Not much clearance!
