It just occured to me - what other bikes are using the same type of Fuel Injection system as the TR650?
Would that make any difference to a MOSS substitute? I do not know the answer, but a person I respect did say the MOSS could be used on a BMW...

I just talked to John at Redline about the Rexxer, and it is $600 for the unit, good for one motorcycle, and one only, would have to stay with the bike. He gave me the email to his programmer, and says it is more than likely they have the fuel maps for the Terra. But my understanding is that I (or you) can program your own fuel maps, as many times as you wish, for any upgrade, altitude etc.

If you want the tool to work on multiple bikes, you have to buy the Pro model for $1700. This will not access the key programming etc.

I must now create a nice email and ask a ton of questions for David at Redline.

My Husky dealer said they had to send the Moss machine back, and fairly soon, so other than the Beemer dealer, this Rexer is a great option. Probably great news for those Canadians without a dealer to tune em up.

The Rexxer and associated stuff is ridiculously expensive. A Powercommander and proper dyno is a fraction of the price of a full required stuff , which is only good for one bike or spend more money to use on another bike later IF it uses a compatiable ECU. Leave it to the ducatisti they will pay ridiculous amounts of money for anything. The magneti Marelli is known to be a cantankerous little box. Some Ducati's even use a special closed loop system that defies PC5's.
Unless you are racing and need every last bit of performance use a PC5 over this unit IMHO.

$1,800 vs $7,500, I hardly think it is overpriced. $600 for your own setup. There have been a few people who have opted not to buy the Terra because their dealer won't have the machine, this makes it a no brainer for those who want the Terra/Strada and have no support.

David @ Redline/Rexxer said it would be very helpful to get his paws on a Terra/Strada to help set it up. Anybody in the Yorktown, Richmond VA area, if you are willing, contact David@redlinemotors.com. Or let me know and I will pass on the info.

I think one of the key features of a MOSS substitute would be the ability to fix (or disable) the dreaded error that occurs occasionally, is it called EWS? Whatever the immobilizer error is.

The MOSS doesn't "Fix" the EWS error. Connecting the Moss will just run diagnostics to identify the cause of the error. Any substitute which could read any stored error codes or run a system diagnositic on the bike's components should do the job.

Just got off the phone with David @ Rexxer. He needs a bike so he can configure it for the TR650. He needs it for about 3 days, will dynotune it as he makes the first map for it.

Sounds like a great deal for someone near Richmond. (rexxer.com) This is a Redline company, not some fly by night company.

I also talked to the folks at Beemer Shop, the guys who do the gs911 West Coast, near Santa Cruz(hexcode), and they still are waiting for somebody to run a TR by so they can test it out. There is a good chance it will work on the TR by just picking the BMW model fairly close to the TR config.

Or you can get a power commander if they are not on backorder.

Power commander about $350 with autotune, another $200+
    GS911 $299
    rexxer $600

    Power commander can do tuning
GS911 can do diagnostics and resets
Rexxer can do both.(create and run custom maps)

Rexxer is good for one vin
GS911 is good for up to 10 vins
Power commander is good for the bike it is on.

For performance and diagnostics the Rexxer is the best value. No added hardware, full function.
The GS911 is great for the traveler who may have a glitch or fault code stopping them and a reset is all that is needed.

All the people I talked to today were very knowledgeable and helpful. What they need is cooperation from the TR folks, so they can help US.

Please, someone, help get a bike to these guys so we can get the tools for our bikes.

To learn a bit more about the Rexxer, here is a link.
    http://www.rexxer.com/ecu-tuning-buy--learn-more

Some mention to stick with the tried and true PC5 and autotune, well, Rexxer is tried and true also, just the owner does not have a TR thus the need for one (TR650) to do the final tweaks on the rexxer.

Please note that the immobilizer can be turned on and off with this unit.

Also found another spoofer option the dyno boost performance chip, by Magnum Tuning http://myworld.ebay.com/magnum_tuning_inc. This one claims to work oxygen sensor, so a possibly more interactive spoofer.

This may be the solution to my spare key problem! If I understand you correctly, the Rexxer can turn OFF the immobilizer. That means an unchipped key can be used in the Terra. This is a BIG deal. Spare chipped keys are about $80, if you can get one. I have been trying since February. An unchipped key is around $10 from a locksmith. Just being able to thwart the immobilizer is alone a reason for me to look at the Rexxer. If anyone gets one of these, let me know if this feature indeed works.

We are screwed if we lose the only key we have. From what I understand, you have to have a good key to activate a replacement key or you will be immobilized! The immobilizer is a terrible "feature" for an adventure bike. The BMW'$ have the same problem. If Rexxer makes a unit for them, they should be able to verify the immobilizer bypass.

Looks like you have to buy the ECM software at $3k to do all the fancy stuff. I wonder if my dyno operator has this software. They have been out racing, so nobody at the shop. On the ECU form, there is a box to tic that costs 100 extra to turn off the immobilizer. That form is for when you just send your ecu to them. David said when you buy the rexxer, you can email dyno sheets etc, and then he will send a new map. I wonder if that particular feature (immobilizer) would be included in the initial programming when they send it out.

I may just send my ecu to them for the 300 bucks, and the additional $100 for turning the immobilizer off. I would rather not send such a component in the mail or other carrier. They do have rave reviews however. And my new exhaust and intake will demand a new map, probably only once...

I presume this means once you have done that you can never connect the bike to MOSS again, else all your work will be undone.?

To open this thread once more and say that I contacted Rexxer via email and the reply was fast, 10 mins in fact. David said find me a bike to work on and he will sort it!
I am sure someone must be in the area and wouldn't mind them borrowing their machine for valuable work and maybe a deal for a cheap diagnostic tool.

The guy at Eurosport got back to me and he did not sell any in VA. He is going to check around though. He said he is the only Husqvarna dealer in VA and most went to GA, FL, and WV. I hope he finds one because I want to see the fuel and ignition remapped with a free flowing exhaust. We might be able to find some untapped power.

Might? I was told 4 hp at least on mine. I have been in communication with David at Rexxer. I have sent dyno runs with tables. I need to put my stock exhaust back on and get a run that way, so when he makes the map that goes with the unit, it will work on a stock bike perfectly. Each Rexxer is SN mated to the bike, and only works on that bike.

Then you send the info and he creates a new map for your mods, and you just upload it to the Rexxer. You can change maps back and forth, but cannot store more than 2 in the unit, extra maps need to be stored on a computer. You will not be able to edit maps unless you buy the ECM software and that is not cheap.

I have put my part of this project on hold until Nov, because if I send my ECU now, I could be down for a couple of weeks (mailing ecu etc), and the weather is pretty good for riding right now. He is pretty busy also, so he could not guarantee a quick turnaround being the first one. He has to "crack" it so to speak.

With my new exhaust and the first moss, I have not had the stalling issue. I do have some sluggish spots, but nothing careful throttle control does not remedy.

I'm hoping for a nice Chrismas Preset, The Rexxer for my TR650
