The Auto Tune tests... I almost forgot - the Auto Tune was connected to the PC V and the CO values were purposely set incorrectly. The Auto Tune was told to go to a certain afr. That was quite enlightening. It was clear that there are safe guards in place so 'bad' (truly out range/weird) afr targets would not be attempted. It was also of interest to note that it would take much time to generate a map using auto tune - a few seconds at an rpm/throttle position at least. Because we did not have a lot of time a complete map was not attempted.... but every time the throttle was turned in a stable fashion it would alter the map as we told it to do. One thing seems clear - the better the base map, the better things will be for the end user and because the Auto Tune will have less work to do and will generate the optimal map faster.
on a stock 09 te250, do you think running the 310 basemap would be close enough for the autotune to correct? i noticed the +/- 20 range of correction. id like to put more miles on the bike before installing the athena hip
hall's cycles can get them in about a week, waiting for his vendor to update the part numbers edit: ask for Jeff Kaylor at Halls Cycles - (217)789-0107 (i just ordered dynojet 23-001, AT-200, and the big bore kit from them) - hip
Yes that should work fine. The maps do not appear to vary a huge amount across the 3 bikes that I've seen tested e.g. the TE310 was 'pretty good' as was the TE450 and SM510 that were tested. In case people are not aware the PC simply adds or subtracts to what the ecu is programmed to do, it does not replace what the ecu is doing. Anyone who can order directly from Dynojet, or one of their distributors, can order Dynojet products. From a consumer point of view - Dynojet is in NV and charges the price on their website plus $10 shipping, no tax. You may want to factor that in when searching for Dynojet products. Right now the sales tax is approaching 10% where I live.
Awesome effort Dean. I lag behind in EFI knowledge. Hope to spend a little time with the 2010 TXC250 and see what it is all about.
Also want to throw it out there that if you have a setup that we have NOT tested we are interested in looking at your bike. So if you have a 2008-2009 with an exhaust or other combination we have not tested we will give you a free PCV and custom map.
I've downloaded the 09 TE310 ALL file with the zero map and one for the PU kit. When trying to open/run the EXE, the setup dialog appears for a brief moment then disappears. I've tried compatibility mode(s) with no luck. Does this file open for anyone else? It seems corrupt. Packaging it as a executable is bad form these days, how about just the file for download, or in a zip? I would think anyone using a PC V should be able to handle just the data file without a fancy installer. http://www.powercommander.com/downloads/23-001/maps/m23-001-All.exe Update: I was able to manually extract (unzip) the exe, the two map files load without issue in the PC V software. Update 2: The exe is working as expected, I just didn't know what to expect. It placed the map files in the 'map' directory under the PCV program. Hopefully this info saves others confusion...
I'm also working out these types of details. Rapidly. Thanks to Dynojet I'm all set up with some good products.... when done I'll document things too. My hunch is it would be better to call Dynojet with any issues, Dusty only comes online when I ask him to. Did you buy the Power Commander for your 2008 TE250? Or just download the files?
I agree, I don't yet have the PC V...calling tomorrow to order. I'm also replacing my stock, big and heavy AGM battery with a LiFePO4 pack. Cells will be here tomorrow. The new battery and the PC V + autotune should fit nicely in the 'battery box'. Photos to come...
I've been testing a 2008 TE250 with early ecu software (like yours), and the PC V & auto tune - while a detailed report is forthcoming, you will be very very pleased. Just tell them it is for a 2009 bike and we will take care of the rest.
Ooh, I look forward to your detailed report, even a rough draft would be very cool. It's way too hot to ride here, well that and the extreme fire danger...so I wait.
Excellent, detailed work, thank you! I've tried to order the PC V, but no one can order it until the distributor updates their db. One retailer phoned Dynojet but their (DJ) computer system was down, and they are performing inventory, the retailer later received a response stating the Husq part # are 'back ordered' and will likely be a month out. It probably won't be that long...something to look forward to I guess. Dean, will you post/pm the map you made for the 08 250 with early ECU?
Maps deserve their own thread: http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4827 The products may be available direct from Dynojet at this time. Call the number listed on their site, ask for the PC V part number for the 2009 TE310 (23-001) and Auto Tune (AT-200). They will then say they are out of stock, but will dig a little deeper and may find some in the back that can have the 2009 TE250 map loaded into them that they could then ship out. I did ask and the prices to California are what are listed on the site + taxes + 11.50 shipping. Now I predict there will be people posting that they do not want to pay full price... I just can't win
Ummm nope! This is the guy that has given untiring efforts to allow me to work on his 2008 TE250. Give this guy some rep!
Hmm, how do I put this. I currently have an 08 SM450R with an PCIII and mods, (pipe, Hi-comp piston, K&N "MX Extreem" air filter, slight cleaning up of the cylinder head ports and VP 4.2 race gas straight). It has had a dyno tune, but I have more mods on the way, (Husqvarna Special Parts cam, full ti pipe, piston and ECU) . This bike will be/has been raced as well as occasional street rides. So I was considering the PCV with an Auto Tune for my 09 . Would I still be able to get a PCV if brought it in? I would want to buy the Auto Tune as well.
