Man I can't wait to do this mod. As soon as I am able to get out of bed it will be done! With pics of course!
Time to come clean. I cut the gussets and had an airframe tech handle the welding. I agree welds of beauty.
250 miles of hard off road stuff in Pozo La Panza area and Mojave with 26lbs of stuff on the back and no issues! I like the weld on supports best, but the bolt on is doing great so far! Gonna take pics at the Husky monument Saturday! Thanks again CJ.
Thanks for the update...and you're welcome. I've passed along the templates to at least six or eight 630 owners. So it's getting some traction. Cheap and easy fix - that's what I was after. Mine is working famously as well. No fear piling a bunch of gear on there and riding offroad. I've got a thousand dirt miles on mine now, mostly with some kind of cargo on there. Had the tank and panels off after the last ride to do a close inspection of everything on the bike and the subframe is just as clean and nice as new. I really like the bike. Last ride was with a bunch of 'big bikes', F800's, SE's, etc. When we got to the hard stuff they started calling the little husky a 'cheater bike'. No trouble keeping up in the twisties either.
Was in a hurry, but hopefully the gussets I welded in will do the trick. Also added a spar on the battery side that is hard to get in the shot.
Never seen those before, hope CJ is getting royalties. Looks like they may attach at the exhaust hangers? .
I'm going to be adding these soon. Bolts, spacers, precut drilled aluminum and powder coated for $25 sure is a good price. I will still weld extra gussets but use these braces in addtion to make my subframe bulletproof. _
Ordered a set of the sub frame re-inforcement brackets, do you suppose this is a perhaps 80% solution compared to a full weld job? for $25, have to try it. Paul O
CJ did a great job of coming up with a good solution for the 630 Whether it's a 610 or 630, they are one of a kind bikes and it's sad their life span was so short.
I purchased these. Have yet to install them. Instructions are sort of confusing to me but we will see how confused I am when I go to actually put them on. They certainly look nice. I was hoping these could support some luggage without me having to tear everything apart and pay someone to weld the subframe since I have no welding skills or equipment. I hope so at least. (Came in the same day as my leo vince exhaust I got from motoexotica for 800 bucks and my JD tuner. All ordered from seperate places, all arrived same day. That was a great day )
