Looking good brother, that red suite is crazy looking! How has that skid plate handled the abuse so far? Looks like it's still holding up, any complaints?
Hey 6thgear, that's my ThorMX gear circa 2005, only wore it half a dozen times. It's usually All Sahara All The Time down here. The skidder, an UpTite unit that came with the bike, holds up pretty good since it doesn't get much abuse but I always hear stuff bouncing off it.
Nice, if you don't mind, I created a thread in the 4 stroke section. I'm trying to determine between the TXC310 and the WR300. What's your opinion for the 4 stroke? I'm looking at the 13 models and it's a tough call for me..haha
Yea bhab, heading to Chipley. you'll be getting some t-storms today so it should keep the dust down some. That property is really fun to ride with moisture in the ground, when it's dry, not so much fun. 3 events left in the season & I need the points. 6thgear, both bikes are really good, they're just different. The 310 will become my HS bike for next season, so I haven't raced it yet. I'll add some comments to your 4str thread...
Thanks Street, didn't want to thread jack. But I'm excited to hear your opinion for sure! Glad to hear you've decided to race it next season!
i am totaly not into graphics and all that...but that is one really clean scooter and looks great. who did those? ooops- edit: got it HBD...thanks.
Race report from FTR HS #13 Chipley FL 04/07/13 This race has something that most of the other places in FL don't have, DIRT. There is very little sand in the FL Panhandle, but it is a 350mi drive from Central FL so the turnout is kinda low. Too bad for some since this place was AWESOME. Especially with the rain on Thursday. Lots of mud too, haven't seen that for awhile. Now to the race, got another so so start, have to work on that. But with no dust it was nice to race with guys instead of trying to see them. Also a chance to make up some points with only 6 in my class. The Lectron equipped WR300 was "flying" thru the ruts & roots, like it was born for this terrain. I have to say this was my best race day ever on a dirt bike, ended the 1st lap in 2nd(in class) & held it to the end. At the 3rd mi of the last lap I worked my way thru some guys stuck in some mud & looked over & saw John(the other Husky guy in 50c)& realized I was in the LEAD. I said to myself "Don't do anything stupid" & of course got stuck 100ft later John passed me back, I got out & spent the next 6mi trying to track him down, ending up about 1min short. 2ND PLACE, I'll take it. The last 3 races I feel like I've been racing instead of riding around, climbing from 16th to 9th in points with 2 races left. John has won 2 out of the last 3 races so it felt good to stay with him. Hopefully some good pics soon........
Race report from FTR HS#14- Maxville FL 04/28/13 The River City Dirt Riders had their earlier race cancelled due to flooding on another property, so this was a new place. Ended up being a pine tree farm, with acres & acres of planted pines. That means a buildup of soil where the tree grows, making a small 12-18" "whoop" about 3 ft apart. Well the 10.5mi course included about 6.5mi of this cross-chop. Pretty brutal. But my Lectron equipped WR300 ate up the nasty stuff & begged for more. Got a decent start, one kick again!! But in the second corner I went down hard, thought I got run over but witnesses said it was all me Went into the woods in 16th out of 18, I was pissed & started pickin' em off. Somehow ended the first lap in 6th!! 2nd lap was 5th & the 3rd lap caught Dale in 4th right b4 the scoring chicane, bumping his tire all the through...a lot of fun.. Got 5th & some much needed points. And I was only 1min36sec behind 1st. I really can't believe the difference the Lectron has made to this bike. I gotta do something really stupid to stall it, & it pulls like a team of Clydesdales from any gear. I like it. I did manage to tweak my right rad forward somehow, maybe when I fell, cuz I didn't come close to hitting anything the rest of the day. One more race on May 12th, I'm going to finish the season on the 300, then take the summer to dial in the 310.
In the garage this AM finishing up prep for the last race of the season, maybe last race on the WR. Will be using the TXC in the fall. Tomorrow is HS#15 west of Orlando. Sitting 8th in my OldFatMan class(50C) 11 points behind 7th & -20 from 6th. Depends on how the point drops pan out(scored on 11 of 15 races) this'll be my 11th, so my crappy rides in the first half (pre-Lectron)will have to do. Brand new virgin property should be fun. This was the race postponed when the club lost the use of Gatorback, yes that Gatorback. Seems a big development is going in & they will be probably shutting the place down, very sad.........
Well, the 12-13 HS Season is OVER!! Had a good day on a tight & rough 9.5 mi course. Got a decent top 10 start but of course got knocked over about the 2mi mark & ended up way back again So back to work, finished lap 1 in 5th, lap 2 in 4th, & finished lap3 bumping tires with 2nd in the scoring chicane for 3rd Caught him with about 2.5mi to go, but that last section was pure enduro trail & he didn't make any mistakes so it was still all good. He told me he knew I was back there,"That husky just sounds different". My buddy John(has an '08TE250 he races at the tighter events) told me the other guys in the class were talking about "That guy on the Husky who stands up all the time" haha. My 2nd half of the season was completely different than the 1st. Thanks to all on CH that helped make my first real Full Season of HareScramble racing a success. Now it's time to take a few weeks off & go to the beach or something, then start prepping the TXC. Can't wait for August.....
FTR year-end Banquet was last weekend. Just a pic of some old guy getting a plaque, lol. 1st half of the year avg finish 14th, 2nd half avg finish 6th!!! Ended up 8th. Can't wait until Sept 8 for the debut of the mighty 310.
Sweet and wowo and congratulations ... I can tell by the look in your eye that you picked the right bike to buy and race to glory -- Why the switch in bikes?
Thanks ray-ray, switching to the 310 just to try out a 4str. I've had the 310 since Jan but didn't want to change mid-season(we run Sept to May). Only decision now is do I sell the 300 & get a new CR125 b4 they're gone? I know the 310 will carve much better than the 300, this was my 1st full race season since the early '80s. It was way too much fun.. ready to go again....
