very common problem...you have bare wire showing...flywheel rubbing wire...altho somehow your pic is upside down..you probably saw that though, that same thing caused me a few problems..

Yes i have seen the exposed wire i am gonna fix it and yes i saw the upside down pic but what do the numbers mean on the rotor. The torn wire has not affected running or starting. Starts easy.

i believe the 34 has to do with where the magnets are placed in relation to the timing pinhole. no other numbers around the outside? the larger number is the serial, as they are numbered to the stator originally

What i have noticed in regards to what u say magnet placement, the plates on the red part of the motoplat dont look like the 3 wire cr xc motoplat they look like the 5 wire wr model yet it has three wires so im unaware of the output voltage hence my issue. Thats the fun of tinkerin i guess

I have just fitted an Electrex World unit to my 390. Fantastic starting and the ideal unit if you want decent 12 volt lighting.
It is not cheap, but I would rather spend a little more to have reliable starting, and be able to ride at night if I wanted to.
As they say .... "You pays your money .... you takes your chance".

Mine starts very easy after I fixed the timing when I first got it. I just wants to get lights for if I get stuck on a long ride, and Im to cheap for new stator

so you are saying that mine is twelve volts and I can run twelve volt lights with no regulator?

If you just want emergency lights I would really consider a modern led flashlight with a mount or a bicycle light. New dramatically improved led's and batteries are much brighter than the dim stock 35 watt headlight. I discovered this flashlight site about a year ago and have since bought about $1000. worth of flashlights,,, it is a little addictive if you like flashlights. Anyways you can get a decent light and battery and charger and mount for under $50.00.

Here is one near the top of this post "Yinding" that is supposed to be a good light.

Here is i think one of the best deals on a budget flashlight that has a built in charger(under $14.00), so you do not have to spend dollars on a charger. So all you need is a few good batteries and you are set. (you would also need a flashlight mount that you can buy or make your own)

Note: I am not affiliated in any way with the above links but wanted to post them because there are codes that allow you to get a pretty significant discount.

There are many many many really good flashlights reccomended on Budget Light Forums. your preferences will vary from mine, but i think you will be absolutely amazed at how good a modern flashlight and batteries are compared to about 5 years ago.

I think vintage motorcycles are a much more interesting hobby. With much more to them, I have been fixing up bikes for about 30 years I think. But I still have been absolutely captivated with these stupid flashlights for over 1 year now. I have so many flashlights now that they are all around the house and car etc. I think I will have to stop hoarding he flashlights soon.

hahahaha, nothing wrong with having a few around but that sounds crazy...
however, i do wish they made a high performance version of the big square lantern style...with the big battery? maybe make one of those rechargeable. with a huge led beam

I have a pretty big flashlight that I modified from stock which had about 3000 actual lumens, it now has about 10,000 actual lumens. It has probably about the same amount of light as 2 or 3 modern cars headlights combined.
