I brought some stuff called Motospray Spray on Sound Deadener & sprayed the inside of the plate. It has reduced the tinny noise quite a lot. Just need to buy a radiator guard. Has anyone installed one of these? Please attach pics & details. Cheers
This is a must for me, and I haven't found one available yet. If the radiator on the Husky is anything like the KTM oil cooler on my Bonnie, I'll be replacing a few of them if I don't get a guard.
Problem is that Terra's raised front fender makes it very hard to fit a radiator guard. If and only if it can be moved that bit away (spacers on mounts ?), R&G Racing proposal for Strada might serve the purpose: http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Husqvarna/TR650_Strada/2012/RAD0138BK.aspx
I emailed R&G to ascertain the suitabilty of using their guard on a Terra due to the small clearance. They replied saying that their product is about 3mm proud of the radiator. I was thinking of using a heat gun to heat the mudguard and bend it away to increase the gap slightly. It's black so you shouldn't see a burn mark. bboffroad also sell a guard but it appears that they have photographed it without the bikes mudguard so it's hard to determine if their's going to be an issue. I prefer the R&G product as it is black. http://www.bboffroad.com.au/tr_650_terra.htm
I'm not sure how to link to it, but I posted the details of my B&B radiator guard in TR650 Mods. Post #191. With pics.. B&B provide spacers to change the angle of the front fender. I've had no problems with clearance nor overheating. Edit... 10mm width on cutout slots.
http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/tr650-mods.28603/page-10#post-284400 There you go What is the width of the slot? I agree with the following post... paint it black!
Click on the post #, then a window pops up with the link already highlighted. Control-c on a PC will copy it. Command-c on a mac will copy it.
Attached some Aircraft (belly) rubber to my plate..tried to cover it all in one sheet but because of the tight bends of the aluminum i couldnt get it to fit right, so i used peices....works pretty good..not quite as quite as having no plate but definitly works pretty good on absorbing engine noise.
Anybody tried tool dip? Not sure if it can handle the head, but it would be super easy and water resistant.
I wish i would had skidplate already. My brand new bike has just done 400 km and i noticed that cluch cover was a little oily. Stone had hit it and it is sweating oil a bit.
Maybe try to tighten the clutch cover bolts? Or is it leaking at the stone impact? I would imagine the clutch covers are fairly inexpensive, so maybe swap out on next oil change.
Yes, it was leaking from impact. Not much, but anyway. I had that kind of epoxy putty and already put it yesterday, but there was not mention about heat resistant... i think. I believe it doesn't get too hot for it anyway. I cleaned surface from oil with acetone first and put that epoxy putty there. Not pretty, but i guess it will work for the first service. I have to travell off for few weeks and hopefully i get it to first service before that and let them to change it with the same trouble. I hope they get the part while that...
