That's awesome especially because you and I were on the same page when it came to the Mikuni jetting.
Me too. Rode my Lectron back to back with Jakes TMxx with new JD jetting, both works well, the Lectron was smoother.
My lectron for my wr150 should be here any day now(I hope!) I will post pics of the install and give a ride report!
Lectron testing west coast (NORCAL) in now in session.I bought two 36mm and just put them on. First to go on was the 2012 CR125. It is longer so you have to gently massage it in and work it. It really helps to take the seat off and tank and air filter out.The only issue with the install is the throttle cable. The stock one works but you have to move the throttle assy in to the bike. When I would turn left to right the idle would go up because the cable would hang up on the gas tank mount tab and pull the cable. Also I rerouted it between the cdi box through the frame wish bone. So does anybody know of a longer cable? Also a question from Kelly can we get an angled cable holder for the top of the carb? Any way enough of that stuff. Bike started in two kicks warmed up nicely and had a different sound to it like it was a factory race machine or something.Once warmed up I took the little tiddler for a spin and could not believe how much more LOWEND it had!!!I didnt know a 125 had LOWEND!!! And freaking more POWER EVERY WHERE I now know why Kelly says these carbs like bigger throttle openings.SO I tell my wife ok take it for a spin and it starts for her in one kick , it never did that with the MIKUNI. All I can say is that it was money well spent. OK next bike was my 2009 WR 250. Took tank off air cleaner out and seat. Popped old carb off and wrestled new carb in. Should have lifted the subframe to make it easier. The250 was a little tighter fitting than the 125. I think the 2008 air boot would work better for this carb because the old tmx's were longer. It deffinitley needs to have an angled cable holder because the frame back bone is right in the way due to the carb being more set back. To temperarilley get by I tilted the carb slightly to the left so it would clear the frame. OK so now is go time! It fires up in three kicks I let it warm up and take a few ripps up and down the road. My god what a monster Plan on buying some spare back fenders!!! The low end is FU)*&^ unbelieveable and more everywhere !!! The bike idles like a champ and never loads up. I rode for about 15 minutes before the sun went down all slow off idle technical stuff where I used to never go in fear of flaming out this thing just idles and off idle is soooocrispppp. I'm telling you this is the end to jetting for me. I bought this bike with intentions to make it a 300 but now it'll be a 250 for ever. I could only image it with CR ignition and how mucj more awesome it would be.I'll let you guys know more when I get some good seat time in. Thanks, Tim.
LOL, I am tickled that I have helped bring Lectron Carbs back to the limelight. I have always liked this type of carb. Simplier than a Carb and the closest thing to FI without the complexity. Guys, try this trick. Impress your friends. Next time you ride over to talk with your friends, don't kill the bike. Just let it drop to it's side (or just lay on it's side) and watch the bike not die. It will just lay there and idle. LOL. Try that with other carbs.
Great info! I was glad to hear it rips! I've got a GP coming up on the 20th and I was thinking of holding off the swap until after that since it is running so damn good now. I think somebody on this site suggested a CR125 throttle cable at one time since it is a bit longer. I don't know what years would work, though.
Excellent report, thank you. Glad you like it as much as I do. Did you find it smoothed out the throttle response from bottom to top (EI no feeling of changing circuits?) Also please keep an eye on your MPG and report back. I think i am getting about 2-4 mpg better, maybe more but hard to tell in snow rides. I use less than my friends. Keep the reports coming please.
Also every get me more feedback on mounting. Can do the angled adjusters and such, good info, thanks.
