I posted this in the other thread. Dwight and Husky bear, we should have purpose built cables available in the next couple of weeks. As far as cables go I have sent Kevin a stock cable, complete throttle assy., and the curved cable holder from the stock carbs for the newer 125/144/165. He is going to make up cables to work with these that are long enough to allow better routing. Doug can you get me a measurement of what the cable housing length is from you WR250? Pretty simple for Kevin to make these up to fit so you can buy direct pre-made swaps. He is going to make up a couple and send them to me to try and make adjustments from there. Very responsive.
Bolted on the 36mm on the other bike tonight. 1 kick start first time. Of course the bike was in the shop at 65 degrees and not outside and 10. Can't wait to get to warmer weather starting Wednesday and put some real time on them.
He is going to start with a 4" longer cable which should be able to account for that. I have bar risers and stabilizer on one bike and will make sure that we have enough length for those and the ability to run down either side of the steering head.
Unfortunately it has been long enough since I had my WR250 that I don't remember how tight the cable was so I can't advise him. If the current cable is good then ~2" and the elbow at the carb end would be perfect.
I'm using a stock cable with a underbar steering dampner and I still haven't flipped the throttle up-side down. If I had pics of how close the top of the carb was to the frame I could estimate what was needed.
We are going to do it 2-3" longer so it will accommodate taller bars, steering dampers etc. EZer to route a longer cable than it is to try and make a shorter one work. These will mount up with all your stock stuff but as it is tight stock is is slightly tighter with this carb so a longer one is needed. The angled part coming out of the carb you simply swap over from the stock carb onto the Lectron. The longer cable will just make it EZer. Thanks Walt for sending that stuff, will make it much EZer to get the cable length right for the 09 and up bikes. I should have these cables shortly for those that need them for their installation.
you can run the Lectron with all the stock stuff this will just make it EZer for those with taller mounting and tighter 125 stuff.
The 250/300 needs the elbow coming out of the carb.Kelly , Kevin sent me the metric cable holder do you know if the elbow from the mikuni will fit in the top of the lectron.I never looked to see during my install.
Yes, you should be able to swap the elbow out of your old carb, should have let you know that. Sorry.
Always was. The APT was running on the ragged edge of lean after looking at the plug. This makes it responsive. I have not taken the Lectron that lean as I don't want to. Love the way it works as is and like the mixture that way it is with some wiggle room to not blow anything up. the Lectron is working great and last ride was another eye opener in performance as i got to tackle some monster HP hills. It was great there. No problem, lots of cool tech out there we need exposure to. Its what keeps me interested int his sport. Super fun sport, lots of cool and interesting gadgets to bolt up and enjoy and feeds my always looking engineering side. Good stuff. happy new years to you too man.
Received my Lectron today, thanks Kelly. Still cold here and I have no indoor workspace at the moment, but got it on. Had to lean the metering rod a bit to get it close. Too cold to keep messing, but warmer weather is coming and I hope to get out riding this weekend. Tried to use the elbow off the Mikuni, but the cable is too short. The cable itself needs to be longer to use the elbow; it was pulling the slide up with maximum slack.
Email complying as we speak but is it the Standard unit or High Velocity Lectron everyone is testing on?
