Excellent...email sent hopefully the pricing is in the ballpark of Motosportz's...regardless should be interesting .
Good luck on them answering Email. Kevin isn't good at that. He will answer phone. Your best bet is to get the carb from Motosportz as they have all the mods needed to work on the Husky ironed out. Pricing will be the same if you get the same mods. So why not buy from Kelly ?
Trying the Aussie distributor first to see his price... my masochistic self is expecting it to be 50% for than Kelly...l'll ending up ordering through Kel most likely!!
Installed my lectron today,I did not have to remove the tank or sub-frame but it was a tight fit! The air boot was contacting the shock spring so I used a large tie-strap to squeeze the boot enough to clear the spring. My stock throttle cable works fine, I just had to rotate the throttle housing to give a little more slack. Choke knob is easily accessable from the right side. I haven't started it yet, maybe on the week-end. Stay tuned!
How in the hell does one go as far as install it, and NOT start it? I wouldn't be able to help myself. Even if it WAS 1am..
thanks for the pics and report, huskybear question: why does the motor side of the carb look like it's not seated fully? is it long on that end?
I had other things I had to do, I am anxious to fire it up and may not be able to help myself before the weekend
I really think it would work very good on these larger bore semi rough running models. I always through the over 250cc bike ran a little ragged and bet this carb smooths that out well. - I ahve loved this carb since i put it on but last ride and trading off with my buddies WR250 was an eye opener on how good it really does run. Constant, powerful, smooth, and responsive.
looking really good. Looks like it fits in there pretty nice. I forgot about those rotated reservoir shocks, glad it cleared that OK. Look forward to your ride report. LONGER CABLES COMING SHORTLY FOR THOSE THAT WANT THEM.
We are about to see about that... http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/testing-a-lectron-on-a-modern-4-stroke-shortly.30038/ Kevin at Lectron assures me they have countless hours on the new 4 strokes and it does for them what it does for the 2 smokes. I'll take him at his word as he has been 100% so far and not one to throw crap out there just to sell or excite. He will be sending me a carb setup for a modern 4 stroke shortly and I intend to try it on a CRF450. If this really works as good or better than a CRF carb it would be nice as the CRF's are freaking complicated beasts and the Lectron is about as simple as it could be (by design). Round three begins.
I wish I had one here as i think that would be the PERFECT application for that hard starting beast. anyone local to me have one and want to give it a test?
Yes we still have the TC and it was my bike of choice for MX while the SC was out. That bike has two cables comming out of the throttle tube so I'll have to look and see if it's even possible to bolt it up. If it will heck I'll give it a try .
Call APT and see what you need to make that happen Although i think APT said they were working on a AP version for 4 strokes. They also do not have the adjustable powerjet which I'm not sure if that affects the 4 stroke performance or not? Lectron tells me they have countless hours on the dyno and track testing on 4 strokes and says it works fantastic. We will see very soon. I read several reports where XR600/ XR650 guys loved the Lectron. some interesting info out there... This is a Lectron 46MM Carb. This carb comes with Honda 450r rubber carb boot that had to be modified for this carb. It also comes with a Moose Racing Thumb throttle kit with throttle cable. This carb does have a choke The price is $500. for everything. This carb has been used for about 10 dyno runs and about 15 minutes of practice. I have a Honda 450r that has a full blown Dasa motor on it and I dialed it in on a FCR from the CRF450 that Dasa bored to 42.5 or 43.5 I cant remember. It put out 61.4 hp with FCR and with the lectron it got 64.8 hp. This carb had alot better powerband on the dyno than the FCR. The bike would idle smoother and just sounded alot crisper with this carb.
So I want to know more about the carb. Will a 38 work better at top speed and worse at low speed than a 36? Do they come set up "in the ballpark" for the model bike it is ordered for? Will I need a different cable to get the slide closed as far as it needs to go? Does it fit properly between the airbox boot and the intake boot? Really interested in one for the 300.
Things that make you go humm . I'll be looking for the Honda 450R report. I had an 07 and jetting those is a pain as I had to remove the sub frame each time.
