Ok, well yeah, ok it would probably make it start easier than alot of wr 300's, seems alot of them are not perfectly jetted. Somebody did say that you could lean the bike right over with out it flooding. Which would be nice. It would be good to see some more videos of people riding etc, since there really is not that much at all around at the moment. Thanks
I felt my 165 was jetted as good as I could get it and it wasn't hard to start, but with the Lectron cold starts have been on the first kick. Can't get no bettah-
Ok, yeah well, i really want to buy a wr 300, and soon after install a lectron. On a husky test day everyone seemed to struggle with starting the wr 300. Most times the husky rep actually had to start it. So i thought that these bikes were hard to start but maybe just because it was new, the 2013 model was a very nice bike to ride.
Mine has always needed a crack of the throttle to start with its current jetting. Hold front brake with fore finger and hold throttle at barely open, kick from TDC. I did go to a 30 pilot from a 35 and it was a one-kick easy start, but lost snap off the bottom so the 35 went back in. I got a 32.5 last fall and its still in its plastic bag. Lectron is here on the bench waiting for temps at least into the double digits at the warmest part of the day. My KTM/Honda riding friends all had problems starting the WR, which I always found amusing.
Not to side track this thread too much, but I would bet that most people that say their 250 or 300 is hard to start, are under 6'. I think most of it is in the technique.
Just got back from riding the last coupledays and am real happy. Rode 32 miles from 600ft to 2000 the first day and used 1 gallon of gas,had a line of spooge 1 inch long at the end of the day. Bike has awesome smooth low end and was ajoy to ride up anything.Looks like I,m a bit rich but the carb still work better than any Kiehin or Mikuni I've had.
6'2". I've let a few people ride my bike and except for a couple "old timers" who jumped on it and started it first kick, most struggled with starting it.
I got about 20 rides on APT and Letron now. I'll not be going back to a standard carb. I really like how it runs so smooth and controlled. More power more control and more MPG. Brilliant. video http://www.pbj.mx/Motorcycles/2013-...RAILS/27647949_fF8J9b#!i=2329218586&k=XP9CGXX

I'm not sure what the deal is with the hard starting WR's. I got rid of my KX250 largely because it was a PITA to start, to the point my left hip was getting screwed up from all the cocking my body to the left and trying to jack my right foot up high enough to violently kick the kicker. The KX admittedly has very high compression, much higher than a WR, but it still just did not seem like a typical two stroke as far as starting. My WR 250 always starts easily and has had 3-4 different pilot jets in it, doesn't seem to matter much. That's with the original TMX installed. I'm 5'8" so any of these big bikes is a bit awkward to kick.
I think a big part of it is that APT shot their load to early. only having a high priced version available and not a budget version (where the majority of the sales will be made) for the next 4 months is not playing out for them. creating a buzz about the product an then say you have to wait, doesn't really work besides the small differences and the sales pitch of the products (I do think the carbs are pretty much the same like the difference between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini) we are currently riding a Toyota with the conventional carbs. There is two big advantages that plays into lectrons favor and that is experience and able to deliver the product right away. so impulsive buying behavior is also served. Robert-Jan
That, and I appreciate the fact that Lectron is being sold by a site sponsored person, instead of getting in the back door by having others post for them, because they don't want to be a sponsor, or sell thru dealers.
I have had 7 rides on the Lectron 38mm for the 165. Carb works awesome with this application. Traded off back to back with a 165 running a 36mm Lectron and couldn't really tell any difference. Yesterday we did 30 miles of free riding through rocks, gullies, and hills. Probably averaged 10mph and it took 1.078 gallons to go 30.3 miles. That is phenomenal compared to the 20 mpg I am used to getting in those kind of conditions. Other than getting some cactus stuck to my butt it was a blast.
