Kelly i tried bumping my 2 stroke and ive not got the bulk to gain enough traction to turn motor.
But i would prefer a kicker to be present on every bike.

I started the '79 390cr by rolling it down any hill, put it in second gear and pop the clutch. Since I can't kick it. Trying first gear the rear tire locks up.

sometimes you have to even use 3rd for a strong 430 or 500..my 360 seems to be ok with 2nd if its moving more than a crawl.

Is sherco even importing these things? It would make me nervous to buy one and worry about parts availability or a lack of aftermarket goods.

The sherco factory edition isn't imported to the US but the 6 days is. The US and Canadian distributor work together to inventory parts. Apparently there are a ton of parts which was even reported by trail rider magazine.

The bikes are available. Check out www.shercoforum.com

Aftermarket is small but everything needed is available.

Seems easy enough, fork over cash and they ship it to your door. Not to mention they have a ton of parts and share parts distribution with Canada...

Kinda my thoughts too. Not hard to get and parts should be EZ too. You just have to go into it knowing no dealer support which is fine with a lot of people that do their own work.

Its the whole business model.... which is the old GG distributor and that business model sucked then and still sucks now.... I like having the odd ball different bike and I LOVE that whole package at least the one that was band new that I rode (300) motor was probably the best out of any 300s fo me with tons of torque and really smooth power and good suspension.... I do my own work but you still need parts and I'll be damned if I am relying on one dealer for parts , been there done that, and it sucks..... and sometimes you just need a dealer....

Its a fringe bike in the US and as such the actual buyers will be ready to deal with that. For me personally it is a non-issue. dont care about the missing kick start either. If I was buying a new bike right now the Sherco would be right at the top of my list.

this one specifically. Factory 250 2 smoker please.

    Why?

Slim, light, sexy looking, smooth motor and suspension, last gen italian husky like geometry / handling (from what I have been told and read), setup for my type of riding. OC forks that work great, frame guards, clear tank, tucked up pipe, lights (would be EZ to plate here)... etc.

Regardless I never looked at GG as a brand. Sherco has a full line up now minus the small bore 2st in development. Don't get me wrong, seemed GG was moving in the right direction but it didn't work out. I'll agree that the business model isn't ideal for a consumer but i would want to offset the fortune i spent importing by selling myself too until the brand could stand on its own two feet. Hopefully he reinvests some into support riders or something down the road. Sherco even made the dirt rider cover :) he seems a little dead set on his ways but he does pay attention to the forum.

No magazines were going to get the bikes because of the GG thing and then they swayed him. Actually the reviews turned out pretty damn good and it worked out. The bikes like you said are actually competitive. I'm sure if things didn't work out distributor wise sherco would find a new one.
