Love it! Ordered it Tuesday, and it showed up today (Friday). Works 100% as advertised! : http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/camp-tek-micro-burst-backpacking-inflator-it-works-well.35260/ As I noted, it would make a great gift, especially for those hard to shop for people around Christmas time.
Heres one we built .TRS 650 with Heidenau tires,Husky bags and rack,Leo Vince exhaust with USFS spark arrestors.Looks and sounds great ,the owner did put a booster plug on it also. This is $8645 OTD package.Hes still deciding on wich windshield.[
Thanks Bill. Picked it up yesterday. Can't say enough about the high level of service at Bill's Husky. The bike looks and sounds mean.
Thanks I didn't say whos bike it was just in case ,sometimes significant others don't actually know about it until its in the garage and the?? honey is that a new bike? That's the one great thing about owning a bike shop ,Mrs billf has no clue most of the time {all of} whats in my stall. Not everyone can be so lucky.
Thanks Bill. This purchase was cleared by the ministry of finance. What's the saying: "bros before significant others"? I think that's it.
i got a couple of old 3 point tank bags but i was having trouble mounting them so i could get to the gas tank.
Friend (DRZ400 SM(!)) and Me (Strada) hit up Harrison Lake in BC a few weeks ago. We set up camp about 35 km up the logging road on the west side of the lake.
The Factory bags look the business! I want to buy some for Christmas but I doubt they will be available. Any one have side panniers close to the look of the factory ones?
The OEM bags are just Givi Trekker panniers stamped with the Husky logo. Same as the ones here: http://www.roadbikemag.com/home/wp-content/uploads/1-Givi.jpg
Not a great pic of the set up but the best one I have before removing the side bags. I sold my Ortlieb soft bags once I got the factory Husky (Givi) hard bags and regretted not having a set of soft bags. I saw a pic on ADVrider of a guy who had attached ALICE packs to his bike. The local military surplus store had these used bags for $10 each and while they aren't aren't waterproof I already had a few cheap dry stuff sacks. There are lots of straps on the bags and I had to do no modifications to them to mount them to my existing side racks.
I'm in agreement with the OP about soft bags. My plan is to use the factory racks for two 1 gallon RotoPax and then soft bags over top of the fuel. The hard cases are nice. They are as mentioned, Givi Trekker bags. Although when I called Givi USA for spare parts they swore up and down they weren't made by Givi... I'll still use them for road trips but for off roading and especially creek crossings, I'd rather have soft bags to absorb any possible impacts. One particularly deep crossing at Akers Ferry in Mark Twain National Forest... It hit 3'-3.5' deep and the current on the right bag acted like a sheet of plywood in the wind. It spun me 180 degrees pretty quickly. Definitely an "Oh sh*t" moment as I thought I was going swimming with Strada.
I can confirm they are Givi. I low sided last year and damaged one of the factory hard bags. I was able to order new parts from Givi. Not cheap. You can't get the outside plate with the husky logo, though.
Planned on camping 5 nights but only camped 2, hoteled it for 2, and came back one day early. You can read the whole ride report here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=990476
