My Motosportz skid plate is still at my welders, and with any luck I'll get it back tomorrow and get it mounted. Wings welded on the front and on the sides. I will have to drill a couple of holes to let the lower motor mount bolt be inserted. Pics soon, I hope! If I had time I would get it annodized gray, but with a ride coming at the end of the week, no time; maybe later.

I went with black and red combo because I will be vinyl wrapping ALL of the white plastics with black shortly. I think after that the hand guards will look much better on the bike. If I wasnt changing colors....I would have gotten the black and white guards.

For those of you that have installed skidplates,we need some real world pics of the different skidplates installed.Looking at the closeups the Mfgs provide really does not give you a true view of how the bike looks when you back away from it.

I have seen plenty of the Motorsportz, but would like to see some of the different offerings.
    Anybody got pics ?

I posted some pics of the B&B a few pages back. I've flogged the Terra pretty hard now that I have it, and I am thankful for the extra protection it offers. I rode some nasty single track (not planned) this weekend and examined the plate afterwords. There was a nice ding right where the water pump is. The B&B did it's job. Also, the Terra continues to surprise the hell out of me. You can take it way farther than you'd think! I have all the confidence in the world in this bike now for serious adventure travel.

Thats a good looking plate.Do you have one that includes the whole bike.I'm having trouble visualizing what it looks like when you stand back from the bike.

Ricochet plate arrived today. Took about 20 minutes or so to install. I think this plate will suit my needs for dirt roads and light trails, the fit and finish are fine, and the price was right. I had to undo and redo the harness for the kickstand switch to avoid conflict with one of the clamps.

    Here are pics:

Hey IPA thanks for the pics! I don't think I will be bashing on mine too hard, but the Terra seems to need a bash plate regardless since it is so unprotected around some very important engine parts. This plate is pretty inexpensive, are you happy with how it looks on the bike? A picture of the bike with plate on from 10 feet away would be really nice! Thanks for any thoughts you can give us on the plate, it does look like it covers well and the welds look good. Cheers!

    hudler,

Here are a couple more pics, hope this helps.

This plate will work fine for me. I have a Ricochet on my CRF450 which takes a lot of abuse, has held up fine, and provides good coverage. The coverage on this plate appears as good or better than anything on the market for the TR (so far, IMO). The B&B does have some additional coverage you can bolt on. Motorsportz is working on additional bolt-on coverage (I think).

As far as looks, I think the gun metal color looks pretty good, but it's not eye candy like the Motorsportz and B&B plates, just depends on your taste.

Thanks alot for the pictures boys! The Ricochet one looks to cover pretty nice and the B+B one is a real beauty also. There are alot of great choices, I am gonna make a list of necessary upgrades vs. available cash and go from there. Skidplate and Crashbars are at the top of the list, maybe the OEM windshield would be up there close. After those maybe tank/tail bags and after seeing how the bike fits me seat/bar risers etc. I haven't gotten the bike yet, it is very cold and TONS of snow up here in Saskatchewan. Roads all closed to traffic last night and some today as a blizzard has move in...but I just can't get the bike out of my mind haha...I know spring is gonna come,Right?

I've had the Ricochet on several other bikes - top notch functional piece. Thanks for the pics, I even like the gunmetal color you picked.
We ride some pretty rocky stuff, so a decent coverage skidplate is always my first bolt-on. Looks like another Ricochet for me.

if it's like the one on my 630, a bracket bolts to the underside of the frame, which the skid plate bolts to.

looking at the hardware packet that comes with in the pics above - it looks like the rear is held on by the frame-tube clamps and the front by the bracket that bolts to the frame downtubes
