The insert in the picture above is the P-SA014 - 2 Meter Max. The other one you ordered does not have the spark arrestor included. The P-S004 insert is the quietest for the Akropovic, but it is the most restrictive. The inserts with "bends" are the quietest. The tuned ports will increase noise levels. These are the inserts that come stock on the TC449's.

The best fmf silencer for noise limits is still the Q4 which is 94dB and the loudest is the powercore4 @ 116dB or 105 with insert. Stock big cans are 80dB.

The manuals never seem to show everything. Like ported air boxes stock on MY12 TC449's. ;) $23.99 for lower ported cover.

Being a road/track Supermoto spark arrestors are not a big concern, plus when we run at night shooting out flames is cool :p It'll be interesting to get some empirical data on the difference on noise levels the inserts provide. If dyno time wasn't so damn expensive I'd get my JD tuner spot on for unrestricted, then get some power runs on the 3 inserts to guage power reductions and compare them to the noise levels.

The spark arrestors provide back pressure and noise reduction, that is the only reason for you to have one on the track. I ride in the middle of the desert, miles and miles away from any sign of civilization, yet I am required to be below 96dB and have wire-type spark arrestors.

Did you buy a tc air box?

In the process of putting the new exhaust on, I found that the stock TE511 head pipe is heavier than the mega bomb header, the mid-pipe and the moose connecting spring combined. That stock header must be thick. Plus I am liking how the TC header is connected with springs vs having to remove the two nuts every time you wish to take the head pipe off.

System purchased from Zip-Ty Racing. It has a nice quiet tone, but you can feel it in your chest.

very nice mate, my correct 4.1 muffler turned up today, so i fitted it with no restrictor and with the new powerbomb i ordered and F^#% me, it sounds insane and im not sure if its just the noise but it does feel a lot more ballsy

Yea, I installed last night, haven't started it yet. The new quiet insert was a tight fit, so I have to clean out the silencer. My silencer was designed by the Yamaha factory team, so the emblem is backwards. I'm happy about the weight reduction, I had no idea how light it is, much lighter than the akro moto system I was offered. It has a nice quiet tone, but you can feel it in your chest.

Fired her up today. Without the insert, it's ear deafening and you can feel it in your chest, instant BLM ticket here in California. Haha. No way that it's 94dB with the quiet insert as advertised, may have to get a Q4 after all. There was an unbelievable increase in power compared to the decatted stock can silencer. :D

Santa did not go all out for me this year but did manage a slip on powercore 4 that is a bit loud, but it sure was ripping up some fire roads this past weekend. Wow, the front end comes up just about anytime I flick the throttle. I love the sound and the surge of power. A huge difference for sure.

I am getting a decibel meter and will be testing my FMF Powercore tomorrow using the ASE J1287 standard that the USFS and BLM use. Both limit exhaust noise to 96db for vehicles manufactured after Jan of 1998.
    Sound Emissions

Sound emissions of competitive off-highway vehicles manufactured on or after January 1, 1998, shall be limited to not more than 96 dBA, and if manufactured prior to January 1, 1998, to not more than 101 dBA, when measured from a distance of 20 inches using test procedures established by the Society of Automotive Engineers under Standard J-1287, as applicable. Sound emissions of all other off-highway vehicles shall be limited to not more than 96 dBA if manufactured on or after January 1, 1986, and not more than 101 dBA if manufactured prior to January 1, 1986, when measured from a distance of 20 inches using test procedures established by the Society of Automotive Engineers under Standard J-1287, as applicable.

I checked for street licensed vehicles and that one is 95db. I will probably video the results on my phone and try to get it on the site on Wednesday.

Stacy and I went out riding this new years weekend to test the new exhaust. With the modified quiet insert in, it wasn't loud at all, in fact it sounded pretty awesome. Previously I ran the stock big-can silencer which was decatted and I had huge flame out issues. I feared with an even greater restriction-less exhaust, my flame out issues would only be compounded. Across the desert at 60+ to first gear rock crawling, I didn't have a single flame out all weekend with the new exhaust system. I am told by my KTM race friends it is because the mega-bomb puts a constant load on the piston at all times, from idle to full throttle. In the end, my Husky went from a tame drz to the fire breathing desert Husky 500 it should be, second to nothing, not even my white brothers XR680. :D

Anderson dry lake bed, Lucerne, CA (Johnson Vally off highway park). There were quite a few people out there, even a few vendors like Neosynthetics. I had the KTM 300 XC with us which puts out about 46hp. The 300 didn't even compare to the new found power from the 511, it was amazing, like I was riding a totally different bike.

Oh yeah, I have been to Lucerne a few times. I seem to remember a lot of whooped out trails ( I can take only so many whoops in a row! My 18 year old son can ride them for miles). Excellent results with the exhaust. Do you run a JD Tuner? Also wanted to ask about the "ported air box" you have. I did not know Husky made that change. More air in and more out= more fun! I am looking at my 2011 to see if I can use it too?
