One of the inserts arrived (P-SA014), still waiting for the Eye-talians to even ship the other one...

Anywho, comparison pic between the P-SA004 (top) that comes with the Akra full titanium EVO system, and the P-SA014 (bottom). It's 40+ degrees celcius outside so I'm not bothering with a sound comparison!

Not planning on it, havent't gotten to the racing stage yet. Sticking to track days as I like not having to dodge wildlife, 4x4's and pushbikes. Most of the other guys are coming up as usual.

Track days are BORING when you first tried racing and Stanthorp is an awesome track and its more like a big bunch of mates getting together then racing. They have a Novice class as well - well more like a track day sorta thing!
And it could be awesom comparing the two SMR 449's

With that attitude you would miss half the riding season in Oregon :-)
Ive ridden in 110 degree weather, wasnt fun though :-)

    40 degrees Celsius ;) (106+ F)
They make those cool jackets that hold water, I think I will try that this summer, see if it helps...

Finally taken the bike for a test ride with the insert installed, bike's quieter, still has plenty of power unlike with the SA-004, and has lost the 'wet fart' exhaust note that the uncorked pipe has. Will have to see how it goes at the track in a couple of weeks.

Caiman could you give the mouth dimensions of the inset? Would be interested to see if it would fit my Arrow slip-on!

Installed the powercore 4 Quiet insert and it is not too bad, good bark. Video shows DB meter reading 96db using scale a and the standard 20" away from exhaust at a 45 degree angle.

TUV077/Ti showed up yesterday and Jase came around on his 449 to test the differences out as I'm out of riding action for a month or so :(

    Noise wise from loudest to not so loudest :p going by ear alone;
    Open pipe,
    P-SA014,
    TUV077/Ti,
    P-SA004.

The outer diameter of the 077 fits inside the 014 with a mm or two clearance, and the 004 is waaaay quieter with it's relative pea shooter ID size.

Ran the P-SA014 at the track the other day and didn't get pulled up for noise, didn't notice a drastic reduction in power like the P-SA004 so for the time being it's staying in the pipe 24/7.

Of the bunch, I like the P-SA014. It's the closest to what I run. My pipe is 63mm in diameter though so if I run it open, it is deafening, even with a helmet on.

Does anyone know what a stock 2011 TC449 decibel rating is?
I would like to race it but have to be below standards fo 96.

The stock TC449 silencer is pretty choked up, should be well under that limit.

I havent actually tested one, but Cory Graffunders TXC511 with FMF tested at 96, and Im pretty sure the stock TC is quieter if the stuffing is good.

SPL Meter makes a nice iPhone app that gives the same reading as our official db meter if you want a way to get some readings.
