Thats what you get in the NW this time of year. Did 36 miles and was actually quite fun. 2-5 inches of snow and 28 degrees. Almost did not make it off the mountain and ended up int he ditch like all the other cars. Fun day. On the way up. This was 4 inches deep coming down and one big drop off on one side of the road. Blake rode his bike while I drove the truck. Thanks bro, someone needed to report the accident. Pre ride and seems like it will be a nice day. Then it snowed all day. Four welcome items here... New Motoz IT tire (freaking love those tires), racetech gold valve fork (very nice), 3.6 gallon tank (not needed that day), Big ass Doma pipe (power). Good times. Two 165 huskys getin - r- done. Same spot different day perfect conditions... All warm and fuzzy (Blake you look like some wildman)... Actually a lot of the trail was pretty nice. But check the frozen ground and puddles. Pay attention, ride loose.
no trelleborgs? Cant wait for our first snow of the season. We are also planning a frozen lake / closed golf course ride when Conneaut Lake freezes over.
Cheating , that's and understatement! But being new (a few years) to the woods and winter riding , it has helped me take my riding skills up a couple notches. And do/climb things I would have never been able to without studded tires. And boosted my confidence....
I have run both studded and tried the trelleborgs and both hook up amazing but change the handling and control so much I would rather do without for my needs. Personal preference not to run them. I still have a studded tire in my garage and a stud gun available. If I rode icy winter conditions more I would for sure have a set of fully studded tires.
I was trying to not be a statistic and I don't think Blakes "My first phone" takes pix he he he BTW it was three cars. One looks like it came across the lane while trying to go up the hill and two swerved into the ditch to miss it. Opps.
ahahahAHAHAHahahaha... My first phone only does Panoramas, no regular pics. What do you expect from Fischer Price? Trust me WC, if Kelly would of managed to put his truck in the ditch, I would of found a way to get at least one picture, just for you.
I found a good deal on all the stuff to stud some up last spring and the project went on the back burner. Anyway finally got some ready and can't wait to try them.
Interesting studding, I thought studs needed to be proud of the rubber. Great ride by the looks of it. Loved to have had a blat in those conditions-bit hard here in Oz.
I'm curious with the winter riding conditions, what weight oil are people using? Any other necessary bike adjustments when preparing for a snow ride?
Same as always, Mobile Delo 1300 for me. Not really, just ride. I usually let some air out of the tires and run about 3-5 less than usual as the speeds will be slower and need the traction. Grip heaters are wonderful. Studs are nice. Ride.
