I was considering the 6 days extreme. When I bought the 610, it had one on the front and it's done great at Hollister Hills riding the trails. But no one had them in stock. I consulted a few experienced dirt people I know and a couple recommended the Bridgestone M404/403. Road Rider had them in stock in close enough sizes (80/100-21 and 110/100-18 instead of the stock 90/90-21 and 120/90-18). They don't make the Bridgestones in the stock size for the 310. For my next set I'll probably order some 6 days tires. I just HAD to get rid of the Karoos. Hopefully I'll have time to deal with the swap tomorrow. I had the shop cut the sidestand nub off before I even loaded it up. Today, I went shopping for tires, bar guards and boots. I passed for now on the boots, but got the rest. Spent a couple hours carefully trying to do a nice clean, unhurried install of the Cycras. Turned out ok. I had to unscrew the hydraulic clutch line just enough to twist the line so the fitting would clear. And the large clamps are too small for the stock bars, but I torqued em down anyways. I need to get some risers, too. I'm heading out now to look for a spot to take a few pictures of the bike since I only have that one partial of it in the back of my truck and that's just unacceptable.
Try adding a tooth to the FS (14t) and see if that does not help open the gearing up ... Adding the tooth to my 08 TXC250 helped spread the gears out alot ... Rubber is really about the low point of the street \ trail riding aspect ... The kenda k270 was about the best compromise I found for street and trail...
Picked up some Bridgestone M404s and some Cycra bar guards today. Since I didn't get any good pictures of the bike and I spent all that time installing my spiffy new bar guards, I took her out for a short run to try to find a nice location for some pictures. Man, there ain't jack very close to me. I tried a park, then up and over by a golf course on Bernal and finally all the way down to Bailey across from IBM. It's not that great a spot, but it'll do for now. You can't even see the hump of dirt I parked next to so that I could get off the bike... I nearly dropped it getting back on, too. I've always been less flexible than others, even when I stretched daily back in my theater days. But it sure didn't help that my back is tweaked today. On the way back home, I violated some stairs between two parking lots. Three times. It was very satisfying. If I still smoked, I'd have had a cigarette afterwards. I don't really like the 50t rear sprocket at all. I feel like I'm driving a two wheeled truck. How many granny gears do you need? I really wish it had a neutral indicator of some sort. The electronic display supposedly shows an "N" when in neutral and doing less than 12.5mph, but that feature appears not to work. The more I ride it the more comfortable I'm getting on the bike. I did about 23 miles and kept it under 7500rpm almost exclusively, with one or two quick trips up to about 9k. Getting the bike over 45 is really pushing it, though. Althought it was a bit cold, it was a nice day to get out and ride.
