Up in the Kawartha's this week and visited Cameron Cycle. Nice shop and the mechanics are dirt bike guys how refreshing. T Mac I saw your Terra sitting in the shed . Wow beautiful bike and I like all the mods. They told me your parts are coming this week. They have a Strada in the showroom and 5 more in the warehouse nice bike as well but at 9000 cdn dollars It would have to be a Terra for me.

Okkkk, Made progress. Took the headlight cover off the bike to poke around to see if maybe I F'ed something up the few times that I was back there tinkering with the HID witch is now Scrapped! I found a connector that had loosened up. Must be the EWS sensor ring connector, plugged it back in and Vroooom fired right up. Heres a pic of the connector so you can check yours

Nev..make that probably 1 in 5000 .Went to start the bike and EWS came on ,fixed red triangle on ,low beam on, Temp gauge reading high, standard electrics working (indicators etc) but ZERO ignition. Hooked up battery leads to clear RAM ..Zilch. Cycled ignition..zilch. Battery is fine. No electrical work done except simple auxillary socket direct to battery. No other chipped keys closeby .

Read enough in my panic over the last few days to know that if this ever gets fixed I will try to get immobilizer deactivated.

At least it happened at home unlike some poor bastards out there. God help anyone if this immobilizer sh*t happened "out there!!" for any reason.

God knows in my research, EWS warnings are a cancer for adventure bikes. A simple short could cause it. Possibly even water .

Getting bike carried to dealer after crazy season. Hopefully Moss may shed some light. Sad that BMW computer cant help out these situations anymore.

If the ECU is dead where the hell does one get a VIN specific ECU from now, given the orphan status of this bike. I mean who is in charge??

Husqvarna and this model is now the responsibilty of one man ,Stephan Pierer. Pierer Industries AG. I dont think he has a love of the Terra.

Disappointing to hear about your bike Vodka. I raised the same issues with my dealer last month to prevent this by asking -
    * If the immobiliser can be disabled with the Moss
    * If the keys are chipped
He replied saying the keys aren't chipped with no specific info on disabling.
I can only suggest checking all plugs & connectors for tightness and water/dust ingress, recheck fuses and leave the battery disconnected for awhile. Hope they sort it soon for you.

I am surprised that no one has yet carbed the bike and gotten rid of that ECU!

The part came (speedometer). And as I told the parts specialist at Husky N.A , it sounds like the ECU(ECM). The old Speedometer was fine and of course the new one made no diference. Then they sent and ECU. The Bike still doesn't run. Then the told the dealer to send the switch, speedo and ECU for programming in California.
I have reached out to people at KTM Canada who handles the bike up here and they do not answer their phones or emails.
I have contacted people at KTM North America and they have not had any success on my issue.
At this point I want my money back. KTM has dropped the ball on this situation. They should have at least ordered one moss tool from BMW for Canada and maybe get a factory tech to fix the bike. If this was any other brand of bike i would have receive a refund or a new bike.
Lets face it, Its a pretty sad state of affairs when a company cant stand behind their product.
The bike has been down almost seven months of the twelve month warranty period.
I have been patient but I have no other choice but to litigate.

    Cheers

Sorry to hear your plight but hopefully a full force legal display will get KTM or who ever is responsible for warranty moving. Maybe if this happened in US there would be more severe enforcement. You should be granted full restitution of warranty. Maybe KTM or whoever is just hoping you go away. A precarious legal manoeuvre. Don't forget the legal wheels grind slowly but they grind fine. Throw in every aspect of loss ,time phone calls, travel, yes even emotional. A heavy handed gambit with a sharp lawyer works. Lawyers are just the boning knife you use to fillet someone else financially. It was stated publically by the new owner that FULL support will continue. First piece of evidence. I'd subpoena him initially. But I am just a cranky old bastard and not a lawyer.

I preface my post by stating that if you feel you're competent to do some basic electricial faultfinding, read this.
Under the seat next to the battery is the starter relay X9130. On one M6 terminal you should have constant 12V; when the relay closes when cranking & you'll have 12v on the other terminal. I bridged these two with a spanner and with the key on it cranked then started.
I found that if the 4 pin connector to this relay is unplugged the instrument panel has no power. Just wondering if the coil for X9130 relay is faulty (e.g. shorted) as it is operated by a low side driver in the ECU (relay terminal #3). If you have a multimeter, I would check to see you have 12v +ve at terminal #4, green-black wire.
In my experience as a diesel mechanic, I have found that when ECU drivers or sensors are subject to shorts, they can have unintended/unrelated faults with other circuits/functions.
