  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Strongest Rad Guards

Im glad to hear they saved you from spending loads of cash on new radiators. Kelly does have really good gear. As do ALL the ORIGINAL faithfull suppliers of cool stuff that have been supporting huskies over the years.

Good to hear you like them.

Mike

Another one that looks like quality are the Mohard Racing guards. Nothing for the TE610 of course.........

The NASCAR roll-cage of radiator braces: http://www.enduroeng.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80000A1B-1244225288 $95. MSRP. Fits 2000-2009 except 610's

OFG's are the best so far. Even Glen Kearney runs them....

Hmmm. Looking at them in this photo and on the OFG website, I'd say there's about a 99% chance that they are made by... Enduro Engineering!

EE actually manufactures all of their products on site and always has. They package their stuff for MANY big companies.

Thanks for the recommendations. I have OFGs with the rear brace but no longer work with the IMS tank I've added. I'd also like front protection, caught a stick today and have a small leak.

Thanks!

"Nope" OFG are just that, OFG. and they have a third support in the center. EE only have top and bottom. Give me OFG or give my radiators death! Never mind, I run OFG on my 450. Wish they would do one for the 610's, but no, the 610 is to limited to run production on. Blah, blah, blah.....

Did you ask Kelly? Motosportz...

Good call, Kelly/ Motosportz has actual radiator GUARDS with front protection and he has ones that fit the 610 as well ! OFG are nice braces but they are not guards and I need stick protection.

For one, the desert does not have two many sticks. The forest here doesn't have many either. Braces are better for falls, and I do that allot. Coverage on the front restricts air flow and my fan was running more than I liked so I switched to braces. Either way you go the products are very nice. Kelly/Motosports have quality products as do the other companies. Ride on brothers.....

For my style of riding, the Motosportz guards are better looking, better functioning (protecting the fins as well as resisting crush forces) and MUCH easier to install. I've tried a set of Enduro Eng (almost the same as OFG) braces and returned them because they looked like $hit on the bike and were complicated to install.

Motosportz guy here so full disclosure. There are several types but guards and braces are the two main types. Braces like OFG makes as to brace the rads in a crash usually used in MX but often times in off a road as well. I have never seen a set but hear nothing but great reviews. Halls and EE deal with him so

We build Guards. These are for crash and front impact protection. We do some stuff others do not like the embossed brace across the front of the guard in two places making it super strong to side damage. The sides rap around and encase the rad. We do rounded holes because aluminum likes to crack at corners. These guards have been thought through and tested for years, there is a lot more to it than meats the eye.

Ours have been around for 5 plus years and almost zero reports of crash damage. This guy bought my skid plate but forgot about the rads. See the stick on the ground. Not the first time I have received that Email. ;)

Very EZ to install, works with big tanks and fans.

Some people say the guard type make bikes overheat. Never seen that to be the case with ours but have had a few customers return them because of it. If you live in real hot areas and do lots of tight technical stuff the braces might be your ticket.

Food for thought.

I have the Motosportz "Guards" and they have stood up to beating after beating! That being said, I think Kelly should add a couple of simple brace bars to compliment the package.

i have managed to bend/squeeze both of mine after small offs...force alloy ones.. not too impressed with them to be honest as far as side impact is concerned but i think they are more for roost/rocks from the front and in that regard, they seem fine !

 No one loves Motosportz any more? Tossed to the side for the new guys in town. No one thinks our big embossed ribs side to side for side impact damage is good? No one likes the frontal protection for roost and sticks? No one likes the EZ to maintain and spiffy looking powder coat? No one cares that we were here with support when no one else was? I have not damaged a radiator since 04 when I started running our guards... but no one seems to care about the guys who have been here supporting all along.

You mean these.....w/ rear support bar? (although another name at the time).

I did bend them last summer, but in all fairness it was a hard lower corner hit straight into rock that wasn't going anywhere. Tweaked everything back, but radiator itself came out undamaged (except for a hose clamp that pushed into the backside fins, & cut my hose). W/O protection, that radiator would have been trashed.

......now as you can probably see, I did modify them slightly, drilling a couple extra holes in the outside for what seemed to me would be better airflow. Although any overheating I've had, has been from tight-slow-technical riding, or lose of fluid, not lack of airflow.

I had a set of Rooster's on my CRF250R and they are awesome!!! Way stronger than the Flatlands I had on prior. I will definitely be going to Motosportz and ordering a pair for Christmas. These guards are such a bargain!

I have a set of CRD with the middle brace that goes over the motor (valve cover) real pain in the butt and didnt save me today.. they folded like a cheap suit.. Gonna send my stuff to mylars in UT and get it fixed.. Now I'm in the market for the strongest guards I can find without section in my enginge compartment... Do the OFG or Enduro Engineering do that ?

I love my Force Accessories and they appear to be very strong and haven't had any overheating issues.

Something tells me there will be another option becoming available in the next 4-6 weeks. ;)
