To satisfy your interest i called the dealer. He told me that it is the first update since they launched the TR 650 Models. This update shall be released in march 2014, used first end of march/beginning of april 2014 as part of regular service. For further information (version, release-date, ...) you can call the german importeur "Zupin": +49 8669 848 110 They should know the details about this update. I am very pleased with the result of this update, except the unstable idle speed. But that does not bother me so much because everything else works much better than before.
Can't speak of others bikes, but mine was very weak down low before the PCV. I have the dual can setup by GPR the rest all stock minus evap. Is far as wheelies go, before as you said if I wanted to pull the front end I would have to lay into throttle and clutch it up. Now grabbing second and rolling on the throttle the front end wants to lift.
Interesting. I had mine mossed on 3/14 and it says map II on the dash. It still dies at idle. I sure hope this is the real deal. I'll be going back.
Another trick the dealer told me ... you do not need eruption or other modification, simply disconnect the lambda probes plug and it should run much better. Although the thing writes an error, but displays no trouble. I have not even tried because I do not like such things. But who wants to try it ... test it out
I can comment on this. When I did the eruption mod the first time around a bunged up a lead and ended up with no temp and the CEL light on. Would be the same thing as pulling the probe out. While the eruption mod still runs best out of the three, I still found no temp readout better than the stock configuration.
As far as I am aware (from speaking to the spannerman at my local Husky dealer), every time you plug a bike into the MOSS, the MOSS connects directly to the central BMW system in Germany for diagnostic purposes and to download updates (this was before the sale to KTM but I presume that this is still the case as it is BMW proprietary equipment). I would suspect, that especially for such a limited run as the TR650, there would only be 1 version of the software for the whole world.
I agree. I think I just got mine mossed a couple of weeks before the latest upgrade. I'll be checking into this. Eventually. Right now I have the Wuka and it's working OK in the high setting. Eventually though I expect it will be acting up again and I'll take it to the dealer at that point.
OK I have now spent 2 hours trying to get my dealers MOSS tool going.......it is an appalling piece of software and I am being polite.....I wont mention what my delaer says about it! It worked a month or so ago and now won't and nothing has changed except Windows XP end of life support maybe having an effect....? Is there anyone out there who has had the misfortune of using the BMW MOSS tool and can offer some advise please.......?........ it should not be this hard
XP end of life support shouldn't make any difference. End of support doesn't mean end of functional life, it just means Microsoft won't be releasing any more fixes for any faults or flaws discovered in XP, and they won't help you if you ring them with a problem you're having with XP. I know when the ECU on my bike crapped itself, the dealer had his own issues with the MOSS which took him a week to get fixed. So they had to run diagnostics on their MOSS to diagnose the fault with that before they could run the MOSS diagnostics on my bike to diagnose the fault with that.
I went yesterday by Husqvarna dealer. I asked if they have time to familiarize yourself with a new update of the controller. They told me that to see if they are in possession of the last update will have to redo the procedure. Next week detach the Booster Plug and bring them to try to make the new mapping. Now appears on the display when I MAPII. I keep you updated. Hello from Italy
OK so I finally got the MOSS Tool going, no thanks to BMW or the NZ distributors. I can understand no support on a MOSS Tool if it were supplied free of charge, but that is definitively not the case here, the price my dealer paid for these out dated (1.5 year old) archaic HP machine is nothing short of obscene!. Ok, so the MOSS Tool was working a month ago, but now does not, and the reason is BMW stopped supporting V14 software on the MOSS Tool (without telling anyone), how bad is that!! So we get a set V15 discs and install them on the MOSS Tool and it finally says, only versions 15 & 16 are now supported...thanks very much BMW!!....this has taken about three to fours hours to get to this point. We then go through the various settings on my bike and update them. Nowhere does it mention anything about ECU's, Mapping or anything that could possibly help with the problem we are having. My dash still has MAP II on it and the bike is no different...in fact it tried to stop 200 meters up the road after we did all of this and then again after another 3k's. Where to from here....? We know V16 MOSS Tool software is out and maybe this is what Norland has on his because the MAP II has gone from his dash, but it sounds like they did not reset the idle positions and as I saw, this could be easily over looked. When we get V16 for the MOSS Tool I will have another go and see what happens...... In summary. If you go to your dealer to get your biked MOSS'd, confirm with the dealer that he is using version 16 of the MOSS Tool software, otherwise wait until he has updated his MOSS Tool.
Interesting... the MOSS tool is updated via disc (or stick)? (as I said... ) Someone here told that it´s updated automatically online.... # 107 So i asked again, I got V16 on my bike
I've had mine mossed 3 or 4 times. Each time it runs great for a while but then starts acting up. Then I connect the booster and it runs well for a while but then starts acting up again. Then I'll disconnect the booster, get it mossed again and start the cycle all over again. So I took it to the dealer again this morning hoping they would have the latest and greatest v16 moss update. They told me they had just received new disks a couple of weeks ago and they were labeled v13. I told them to go ahead and moss it to whatever level they could because it's just not safe to ride currently. When I left they were in the process of unsuccessfully connecting their moss tool to the mother ship wherever that is. They are trying to contact Husky central to get this all straightened out and I don't know when to expect a resolution. I'll keep you all advised. This is taking place in Springfield Illinois.
What I think we need is a spoofer for cold operation, open loop (Eruption). and a another spoofer for the OXY sensor to tell the ECM that the mixture is a bit too lean. I had a Patriot Top Fueler on my XR1200 that was fully adjustable and was painless.
Jeez What a hassle. I take it not all Terra's are like this otherwise none would sell. Wonder why some are fine and some are not?
Seems like all we need is the PCV with auto tune. All the dirt husky's seem to be really happy with the PCV. I have the wukka, but when I went to Big Bear City last Friday with friends, I definitely had the lean backfire a couple of times.
Spiderman seems to be the only person on this forum reporting this recurrent issue of some change improving the bike, and then it deteriorating again, and then the same change fixing the issue, and then it deteriorating again. I think the experience of most owners is that they either never had the issue, or they had the issue, had the bike MOSS'd and it went away and never returned, or they added some sort of spoofer to richen up the mixture, and the issue went away and never returned. As far as this issue hurting their sales, that is not a problem, and never will be for the TR650.
Spiderman, I think you are doing something that is messing up the system, for example using the throttle while starting? That would cause the problem described. It writes an error in the system and the engine is not going smoothly anymore. Maybe you can reset it yourself as I described. Worked excellent on my bike. We can hold on, updates are supplied as disc and not online, right? I am very satisfied with the result of the new mapping, except the unstable idle speed. It works fine since 1.500 kph.
