Your guess is as good as our guess ! We have to get the "certs" in writing before any of the other 30 + 30 day timelines go into effect. It is an exhausting exercise in the domino effect of the red tape involved with importing motorcycles.

I found this article while searching the web for SWM talk on forums and Euro sites. http://www.motorcycle.com/features/swm-motorcycles-the-italian-oem-you-dont-yet-know.html BTW our RS500R DOT/EPA/CARB spec test bike has been shipped as of yesterday by AIR. ETA to CA late next week. If SWM does not get a RS650R USA spec bike finished and shipped before the end of July, it wont happen until September as like most all Italian factories they go on "holiday" for most of August. No further updates on the RS300R or the 440s from SWM at this time. New info on models, changes, pricing, etc. will not be released by SWM until after "holiday" according to their sales manager.

My street bike purchase is on hold, until we get a final word on whether the Silver Vase 440 comes to the US!

Wat r they worth over there noobee? Bout $9500+ ride away here which is cheapish but I think keeping them at $8-$9k tops ride away would be the go. $7990($8500+) plus Orc for 300 I think

Our first 2017 SWM RS500R has arrived at LAX. We are waiting for customs clearance and delivery. Next comes set up at our location and delivery to the US DOT certification lab in CA. Crossin' our fingers and hoping all of the "i"s are dotted and the "t"s are crossed.

God Speed to getting the bikes saleable here in the US. I know you (SWM) have a plan...but I hope you get the 300 dual sport here sooner then later. That is the bike I want!

Yeah similar price difference here around $5k(husky 501 around $14k)

I have owned about 20+ bikes, cross, hard enduro, toruring, enduro, super sport and i also do all maintenance, including full engine rebuild.
I also owned 2008 Aprilia RXV 550 and 2008 Husqvarna TE 510, first generation FI.

First generation XV 550 engines (06,07) had big reliability issues (fueling, starting, mixing water and oil, etc) and although later models had all problems fixed, the reputation was ruined, also beacause of the dealers, and their lack of support and knowledge about the bikes.
On the other hand, stock 08 husqy is almost unridable with 02 sensor connected, lack of balance shaft makes it very vibey, rock hard seat and stock forks felt like they were half siezed.

Other than that, both bikes were very good, but that "italian" character make them more of an enthusiast bikes.

From what i read online and direct answer from SWM and the dealers, 500 has the balancer shaft and the FI and suspension are decent.

I hope that SWM won`t repeat their mistakes and problems and make the bikes ridable and idiot proof out of the box as much as possible, if not, there is little chance of success.

The parts diagram does show the balancer as standard.

Our RS500R USA spec EPA/CARB/DOT test bike has arrived. Now to get her set up and dressed up for the big dance. Testing agency says expect 60 day turn around ! Heck. you'd think they were an Italian outfit going to take a 3 week vacation in August.

Sounds like typical California..... Hurry up and wait....
