I think that will help them selling their bikes. It s like the older Yamahas WRs till now- they are not ultra lightweight oder scary fast. But very popular in terms of relyability and u will always get ur money back when selling these... So hopefully people will buy SWMs so they will grow and might develop a new product range... who knows...
Last I heard (from a business partner that has some contacts at SWM) they are almost done developing a new range of engines based upon the Prototypes of Husqvarna before the KTM-takeover. My guess is that they will launch these next year for season 2016 as a performance line-up next to the current SWM's.
Sounds reasonable ... 'New' normally means the test-clock is reset to zero ...Good luck with the testing (whatever that is) of this new engine ... I've got plans to be around in the yrs 2016-2017 and a few more... so I'm OK with that time line. I'll predict my Huskies will have ~ 700 hrs when swm comes to light ... I'll entertain the idea of an entire Husqvarna engine made by someone else ... (Might be age, but I'm a ~long-term guy ... A yr or 2 is the blink of an eye to me.) -- What about the line from an interview above about no production line tools? Sounds like a blocking point but I know these people are solution-finders ...
Yeah I read that too! However the entire assembly and production line with tools is still in the factory. My contact visited it quite recently and SWM has everything they need...
Now that's progress ItalHusky! Maybe the MID2015 time frame is correct and the production line will start ... We'll worry about a parts supple chain into a country where all us Husqvarna owners can get a part later.
I believe there are aiming for June/July with the first deliveries of motorcycles. So pretty soon haha! I think it is a nice alternative for the less-competitive offroad rider and people that don't want to buy KTM products (hehe).
SP is the high end market for sure ... and he then raised that to the supreme level with his Husqvarna brand. Cloned Huskies world-wide is a dream even bigger than I've dreamed...Maybe I need to re-calibrate my horizons? Maybe I'm getting old? In any event, I hope I see a real, live, hot-engined, cloned Husqvarna dirt bike here. And I will ride on it ... Here, the locals have '90 model Yamaha DTs and China bikes (Not cloned Huskies, the other, other China bikes) ... The China bikes seem to have parts that break off currently so it is not really an option for the rough tough riding. The rest of the trail riders are on some other mixture of different sized Japan bikes. A cloned Husky priced correctly and raced here could sell as a trail\race bike I think. The Norkis Company yrs ago is the reason the DTs are so popular here even after they quit with the Yamahas yrs back. Whatever their sales model was then, might work today. I told the Husqvarna Company a few yrs back to give Pepo Rubi a bike and parts as needed and he'll advertise (race) the bike all over the Philippines as he has done for ~30 yrs here on Yamahas...He's one of the god-fathers here with racing.
i ve read SWM has got a 125cc Engine... will be interesting if its a brand new or the WR/CR 125 Engine... or something completely different?
After KTM bought Husqvarna, it has been interesting to see which way guys have gone with their loyalty. Some have chosen to keep their Italian Husky's for as long as possible, others have gone to Beta or Sherco. The ones that are in love with the Husqvarna name plate are buying into the new white KTM's and are happy they still ride a Husqvarna. In a bizarre turn of events, it has led me to start a Beta and AJP dealership, but the SWM really intrigues me because it is the heart and soul of the Italian Husqvarnas that I loved. I will be watching how Speedy Motors develop, because in my eyes they will be the real reincarnation of Italian Husqvarna, built in the same plant, by some of the same people as before. In the beginning their technology will be about 10 years behind as they are using older design engines, but I bet the frame design will still be very good and it will be interesting to see if the latest engine designs that never made it to production will eventually show up.
Water racer, same from a dealership point of view. KTM was ruthless in our region. From all the old Husqvarna dealerships (road and offroad) only around 15% was allowed to continute selling the new Huskies. Without any good reason. Some now specialize in the pre-KTM Husky's (me!), some went to Beta, some to GasGas. However nor GasGas or Beta is able to reach the same sales numbers has Husky had in our region. That's why there is a lot of interest in the SWM products. Same plant, same people, good products at a fair price. And they will be leading in technology in 2016 from the rumors I heard.
I'm stoked When you try to kill a cub you should do a better job I guess......................................
Parts. To my mind thats the big news. Its getting harder and harder to get parts for the Italian Husky bikes. This SWM development should facilitate getting that cam chain slider, 6th gear, or kickstart lever. Obviously plenty of parts wont crossover, but there is plenty of aftermarket still available... SMW needs to offer a 610 rally/adventure bike.
Sorry guys but I drop off here ... Seems like some sort of fantasy-land thread, like todays' news coverage or something. It just is not my reality. We just had real ITL bikes and this site did not like and will not stop complaining about them. And now we have cloned chinese machines being made by some company, maybe next year, that I never heard of till this thread started and they are gonna save me and my real Huskies? 1) I and my Huskies do not need saving. 2) I just do not believe this. Till it happens. The real Husqvarna company could not supply parts. Cagiva could not supply parts. Bmw could not supply parts. Ktm can not supply parts. But now, a out of business chinese company can? I do hope get your motorcycle riding fixed as well as I fixed mine.
Or.... its another multi global effort to build something to give us another choice for our MC fun for which we can choose to buy or not.
I guess that's me.. "Mr. Blind Brand Loyalty"! I bought in and at retail too! Funny thing, I did it before with Cagiva Huskys and they just rented the Husky Logo too. I ride Swedish, Italian and now Austrian Huskys. Have fun and enjoy all the choices!
