That will quite probably work until the OEM plastic rack breaks off. I've ridden my TR650 enough off road to decide for myself that it is a question of 'when', not 'if'.
i fitted my tidy tail, some holes didn't line up and the tailight bracket was missing so I had to fab one. Now I am stuck with a taillight comes on but no brake light!! I have checked the wiring and checked the brake switches. Anyone have any Ideas I don't want to take it to the dealer as they are very slow, i.e. buddies computer shorted out and it took them 5 months after he received a loaner, to get a replacement.
Fixed. Rear brake lever wasn't contacting the brake switch enough to close the circuit. Guess when she took a nap in Stoddard Wells it may have been bent a bit.
So this is basically a really old/dead thread, but did you have to modify the plastics on your bike at all for them to fit around the Tail Tidy? Mine bolted right onto the sub-frame very easily, and the light even sits in pretty straight, unlike what some people have said. Basically the two white tail plastic pieces and the security system cover wont go back on with the tail tidy in, leaving electronics exposed... which is pretty much unacceptable. Did you bit the bullet and modify the plastics? I'm waiting for an OEM fender to come in and would prefer to just modify it so it doesn't brake again than modify a bunch of plastics for a poorly designed fender eliminator.
It's two years later and I would really like to know if this guys still has his taillight installed upside down.
I tried the Tail Tidy and ended up with "Dad's" suggestion and sent it back. I bought it from Twisted Throttle and they did point out that it's designed for the Strada and I believe the 2 bikes are not the same in this area so it DOES NOT fit a Terra... at least worth a damn. I also found the basic engineering far from acceptable in terms of how stuff was supposed to be mounted up. I did a full boat reinforcement of the stock setup once mine broke instead.
