Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but I thought I'd share another tank bag option. I had a Famsa Enduro-Max Touring lying around that I used on my Tenere which looked like it would also fit the Terra So I decided to just try it out. The bag is a roomy 13L and expands to 19L if desired. It has a built-in map pocket, but I use an additional map pocket from SW Motech as that nicely fits a map with 2 "fold bands" showing. The bag zips off the base plate which has a hole for the fuel cap. The base plate is made for the more domed fuel tank of the Tenere, but fits well enough on the TR. The straps towards the rear subframe are designed for thicker frame tubes though, so the velcroed leather straps don't work well. I couldn't be bothered with getting out the sowing kit, I just cut them off and replaced them with some tie wraps. It's a pretty big bag and the side pockets stick out a bit just above my leg, but it doesn't interfere with my riding. Standing up I am closer to the bag, really touching it, especially when working my weight in the corners, but it doesn't bother me.
What really is needed is a tank bag with possibly attachable front panniers that stay forward of knees. Perhaps with attachment points to any guards. I gotta Gert a serious sewing machine and start my own business. Reckon it would be fun.
You mean something like the Giantloop Buckin Roll or the Famsa Tank Set? Not sure either of those would fit the TR though.
I ride with the Laguna mini tank bag from Firstgear. My KTM race friends tease and call it my European saddle bag. It even has a built in rain cover. Very well made. http://www.firstgear-usa.com/laguna_mini_tank.html
